Default squeaky glove compartment

ive been having this problem for about 6 months now. i was wondering if anyone has had this problem and what they did to fix it? it seems like its happening eveytime i hit any type of bumps...even very small ones. it seems like its from body flex. i tried searching the site and still couldnt come up with a solution. thanks for your time.

this site is great...just read the trunk rattle solution and imma try it tomorrow

oh yeah i got an 06 tc with trd springs and enkei 18s. thanks again.

I hear lots of squeaks, rattles and annoying sounds while driving, particularly while going over bumps like you said, but none seem to come from the glove box. My strange but true noises seem to emanate from the passenger side door. The solution is simple, took me about 2 seconds, just turn up the stereo. No, but really, have you considered bringing it back to the dealer?

It could be the glove compartment, could be the whole dash. You can pop out the glove compartment and WD-40/lube all the parts that it connects to and stick out of it. I had an annoying squeak in my center console. WD-40 took that squeak away.

where would this damper be located at? i wish i could just ignore the squeak but its like someone is walking around a squeaky floor. just cant wait to get rid of these squeaks. i hope i could just drop my car in a pool of wd40, thatll solve all my problems.

the plastic damper in the right side of the glove comp, when you remove it you'll find it. Maybe its the radio door squeaking

The fix is foam tape. Line it on the sides of the glove box door, above where the latch part is on either side. Use about 3/8-1/2" thick, width 1/4" foam tape (weather stripping foam, you can get at Lowe's or any hardware store). The length would be about an inch, just cut it to length and peel the adhesive, stick on. Don't worry, the foam tape isn't that sticky to harm anything just holds the foam tape in place.

The piston is on the right side and it slows the door from slamming open. You could remove it, it just slides on, to see if that's your noise, before wd40-ing it.

My money is on the squeak that comes from the door flexing, and needing the foam tape to stop that movement.

I will definately try the foam tape. i think that it is the door flexing thats causing the squeak because if i put some pressure on it the squeak stops. thanks for all the help.

My glove compartment is so annoying ever since I put a PS2 in there.... then a Put my Pioneer D3 in my dash, and that makes noises too.

Watching this one for a definitive solution. My glovebox has an annoying squeak. It's not a rattle, just a squeak, and it happens over bumps. It sounded to me like it was coming from the top-left corner of the glovebox door.
