No. My brake PEDAL doesn't squeak. And NO, any squeaking related to brakes is NOT normal. Does the PEDAL itself squeak, or is it the pads rubbing against the rotors that you're hearing. How many miles on the car? OEM brake pads?

My CLUTCH pedal/assembly USED to squeak incessantly. But after five tries, the techs finally "lubed" (yeah rite) the assembly and not a peep since

I had a couple of times where I slammed on the brakes and they would make a loud noise like I didn't have abs. It felt like I was going to slam my foot through the floor the way it sounds.

its the pedal itself that squeaks, brakes are fine. 5100 miles oem pads.

wait...this is a noob question....how do u knw its the pedals? how can i tell? its seriously embarrasing, i just havent had time to go check on it. i heard it could be weather change issues, here in texas. its more intense when im braking slowly like when at a drive thru, thus makin it even more embarrasing.

if you're hearing the squeak primarily Inside the car and you think its originating from the brake pedal itself, it may just need to be lubed.

if the squeaking sound is coming from OUtside the car, like from the wheel well while you are braking, then probably your pads are worn down and the indicator tab is scratching against the rotor to let you know its time for some new ones.

if your a noob, just take it to the dealership and make them do it.

No. It is not ABS working it magic... It's utterly amazing how people blame or use ABS to try to explain everything. ABS only works when you are breaking so hard that your wheels break frictional contact with the road surface (causing wheel lockup, resulting in your car sliding). ABS will save your b*tt by pulsating the brake pressure in an attempt to get the wheels to make frictional contact with the road again.

ABS does not squeek. ABS does make a "grinding" "pounding" noise when it is activated. Trust me, you WILL know when ABS has kicked in.

For the record, I live in the snowbelt of the northeast, so ABS kicks in fairly offen during the winter season, even with 4 winter tires.

My opinion, ask a mechanic to check the surface of the rotor or the pad life. My friend had a rock stuck between the rotor and pad and ended up digging a channel in the rotor surface. Ended up having to replace it...
