Went from an Alpine CDA-9851 to the NEW 9887. Works great and install was easy. I didnt like the way i installed the 9887 the first time so i bought both brand new harness from crutchfield for the stock harness and one for the 9887 on eBay. Installed both color-coded and everything came out real nice and everything. I sanded down the ground which i think was for the HU down by the feet of the passanger? I SHOULD of just got the ground from the HU and grounded it directly to the car but thought it would be better to sand the stock ground? I dont remember if i ever got static from local stations with my 9851 but i guess im starting to notice it more now. IDK what it can be? Its not THAT BAD but every now and then it will cut in and out with some light static. Anyone with some help.

With my SIRIUS and iPod, I couldn't tell you the last time I listened to the local radio stations.

Why did you upgrade your HU from the 9885? Congrats on the purchase BTW.

i normally dont listen to the radio either, i have a clock radio by my desk at work so kinda the last thing i want to listen to. I do listen to my iPod alot but get's kinda tiring after hearing the same thing. Went from the 9885 to 9887 because my cousin wanted to buy it but then backed out after i bought the 9887. So im stuck with it.

 

still no help? anywho i installed the stock alpine harness back on and grounded the ground from the HU straight to a bolt under the carpet and sanded it good. Installed the stock antenna (had s2k) and still get some static from my driveway? The real test is going to work where i hear the most? Ill post back. Any help would be great.

 

maybe its just bad reception? antenna plugged in all the way? what kinda antenna? i notice i have static on mine too, even at full reception (my deck tells me so). maybe just cause its aftermarket?

 

If it was the ground you'd have static in everything not just the radio if I'm not mistaken. Only thing I can tell you would be check the wire going to your antenna.

 

well for some strange reason im getting an alternator whine? I have no clue why. I got that taken car of a while back when i first installed my system and that was due to a bad ground. Grounded my amps to a new ground and i was good. Now when i installed this new HU i get the alternator whine? BIG3 could be an idea? IDK, im going out of town tomorrow so ill worry about it next week, untill then post up!
