Are there any headunits that still work with the steering wheel controls?

the eclipse avn series will work. anything else will have to be wired up.

I wired both my alpine and my pioneer decks to the factory controls. You will need a programmabe interface box by PAC audio. the alpine model is swi-alp, they make different units for the different manufacturers. you just have to make sure that your deck has a remote interface plug on the back.

 

I used a PAC swi-ps to get my new Pioneer HU to work perfectly with the steering wheel controls.

 

Will the swi-alp work better than swi-x? I have an swi-x installed and it kind of sucks. Not nearly as responsive as the factory controls.

Yeah all Eclipse AVN units as well as the Eclipse single din CD3000 and up units.

 

I don't have any experience with the x-unit, but in my experience the alp-unit worked flawlessly.
