Default Steering Wheel Swap

Ok here's the deal, I have a '07 tC and my girl has a '07 spec tC. I want to give her my steering wheel, so she can use the steering wheel mounted radio controls, but I would like to retain the cruise control functionality on my tC. Has anyone tried this before (and yes I searched but couldn't find anything really relevant)?

Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated. I just really want to get an idea of how big a project I'm taking on here.

Thanks in advance.

its a weird swap because i don't think anyone has ever wanted to do so. unless your just going to swap the steering wheel for aftermarket,, its kind of hopeless. Why not try and find her another steering wheel like yours on ebay or such without the airbag and do the swap. might be easier.

it's possible... however it will involve alot of disassembly and re-wiring..

the steering wheel controls will be fine to swap....

and you will have to keep your cruise control anyway because i don't think her car is capable of accepting the wiring anyway.

Are the cruise control stalks mounted to the wheel, or is there a collar that mounts them to the column?

Thanks for the info guys, it would probably just make more sense to buy a new wheel for her without the airbag, so I will definately look into that.

Although, I could just get a quick release hub for myself, and some racing seats, and harnesses, and a harness bar, and take out my back seat.......

Then i could just give her my wheel lol.

One last question, the airbag in the spec steering wheel should fit into the regular tC wheel right? If so I think I'm gonna go with that option.

Thanks for all the help it is greatly appreciated.

I also have a spec and got a wheel with controls and airbag on ebay. now im trying to wire everything up. So far everyone i have talked to has said the cruise control is hopeless but i got it so that when i replace the sterio i can use the wheel controls. I took the radio off today to look into how hard it would be and found that the smallest harness slot is empty. Can someone take a picture of their control harness so i can try and hardwire it? or anyone know where i can buy just that harness wire?

THANKS and goodluck

oh there is also a harness with a white end that is not plugged into anything, but i cant figure where it would go, is this the same as in any tc or any spec owners know what it is?

i may have to take a pic...
