Line out converter, whiteblazer01 sells a plug that goes between the stock harness and the radio (www.ledmods.net), so does a guy on another board (somebody will remember where), try a search

I did exactly what you are looking to do. I was satisfied for about 10 minutes. The stock headunit realllllly limits the power and capability of your sub and speakers!

After, I just ordered the AVIC D3.

upgrade your head unit while you are at it. you wil be very pleased. But if you have any questions just let me know!

meh, it doesnt really limit anything. yeah a new HU is best, but a LOC works just fine. i rocked a soundgate 4 channel LOC for a month or so between installing my audio system and installing my avic-d2 and it worked just great. metered @ 138 and i come to find out that it was a faulty reading (lower than it should). if your in the market, i actually have my LOC up for sale in teh classifieds.........

Totally agree. Always used to run aftermarket HUs in my other cars, but in the tC I'm using stock HU with LOC and the system now meets all my requirements. :D

It really depends on what you are looking for. The stock HU will be fine if you want a little extra and are not looking for serious sq or even significantly better sq. SPL is another story but where quality is concerned changing the HU is a must.

I will also say however if you like your stock HU and want more bass a small sub and an LOC would be fine for the job.

Some of us would rather be able to have more control over the sound in their system after adding more than one amp and new speakers though, and the right HU will give us just that.

i say save the money.... and get another headunit.

anything else would be wasting your money.. trying to upgrade a system where most of its potential is held back by the stock headunit? eyah...

i put in a amp and a sub with my stock HU last year and i got some good bass. i just put in a new HU and the sound quality is so much better. seriously if it is just bass you want. your stock is fine. but you'll need a new HU for better quality it is vary noticable.

^ Sometimes it's partly due to the quality of the LOC used.

The basic is something like this:

http://scosche.com/scosche_caraudio....9&ItemID=LOC80

That will give you 2 channels of RCAs - good to connect your subwoofer amplifier.

If you want to get a bit more serious - check this out:
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_c...=1&prod_id=369

The JL Audio piece will undo the OEM Pioneer's Digital Signal Processing (EQ), and clean up the signal for better overall sound quality.

I can elaborate a bit more about that if you like, but the easiest solution to adding a subwoofer + amplifier is to find a model that has "high level inputs" (or "speaker level inputs), like this:

http://www.arcaudio.com/arc-05/amplifiers/fd_600.htm

Cheers,
Robyn
