Default Stock Audio System

Sorry guys if this topic has come up, but I've trying to find a thread about this. Anywho, I've got the upgraded (ipod capability) HU in my '07 tC, and I was wondering what was a safe (meaning no blowing fuses or busting speakers) volume and "EQ" setting I can run on my HU. Do you guys think it's cool if I have the bass on 5 and crank the volume to 35+ or am I running the risk of popping the front and, especially, the back speakers? The only reason I don't plan on changing anything sound wise is I've gotten my HUs and subs jacked 3 times already (different cars) and I'm tired of dealing with that. Please let me know your personal experience with the stock system and if you guys have manage to damage it in anyway...

Thanks alot!

Before upgrading to an outboard amp and running a high-pass filter for the front components, I sometimes ran my stock system the way you describe. Always had the "Feel" setting activated, with the bass usually at +4, and volume often in the 32-36 range. No issues or damage after 1 year of use.

You shouldn't have any issues running it the way you described, provided you listen for problems. If you hear the speakers distorting much, then either lower the bass or turn the volume down. Speakers will effectively warn you when they're being damaged, if people would only listen. The HU itself shouldn't be a prob, regardless of what setting you use, your main risk is in blowing the speakers, but just be smart and they'll be fine too..
