Default Stock headunit.

Does anyone know at what volume the headunit maxes out? I'm trying to tune my amp just right (no eq or anything, just by ear) to get the best sound quality. I don't have the best amp right now powering my speakers. Right now i have memphis audio mclass m16sync 300 watt components and the stock pioneers in the back powered by the 1200 watt sony xplode amp. When I turn the headunit up to around 40-45 it seems like my treble is overpowering my bass by a lot and the music sounds like complete CRAP. I'm investing right now in the next gen eclipse headunit with 5v amp preout so I'm hoping that will help me out a lot. But for now, does anyone have any ideas in helping me with this probelm?

62 is the max volume of the headunit. But i' m pretty sure there's a certain volume on the headunit where it maxes out and pushes no more power. I was just seeing if anyone knew what this volume would be on our weak headunits?

upgrading headunit is the best thing you can do for sound quality. trust me, you will notice a HUGE difference after swapping out your oem unit.

Not all, but many head units (stock and aftermarket) start to seriously distort at around 70% of their max volume setting.

This shouldn't be an issue in this situation. Simply turn the head unit up to the max volume where you still feel it's "clean" and isn't causing any issue, and consider that your max HU volume setting, even though it might only be around 35-40 for you. Set your amp gains with the HU at this setting and you should be fine, as long as you don't exceed that setting on the HU when playing the system later. 0-35 or 40 should be more than enough volume range for anyone, we don't really need 0-62 or whatever.
