hey anyone no the factory size speakers installed in the scion tc?
2 ?x? tweeters?
2 ?x? on the door ?
and 2 ?x? to the rear?

help me out here people

They're 6.5"s in the doors and rear. The tweeters are a joke, and should you purchase aftermarket speakers, I suggest disconnecting them. I wouldn't try to squeeze aftermarket tweeters in their location either...

My advice is to buy 4 of the same "good" coaxial speakers and mount them to 3/4" MDF baffles secured to the metal. Don't forget the Dynamat! :D

haha i bought infinity reference speakers for the front 6.5 6012IR and my sister i think is gettin me the MMC6500 for the rears with tweeters i hope thats a good combo and maybe an amp for everything and i have the bazooka sub as well in the back

 

I'll do my best to simplify it for you...
Here's what your rear speaker mounting locations look like (ignore what I'm holding - and visualize your factory rear speakers in the tear-drop shaped hole):



A "baffle" is a board that you mount the speaker to. This is important because speakers vibrate to cause sound, and physics (more specifically Newton's 1st law - an object at rest....) plays a key role here. A baffle will help "mass load" the speaker, and the result is better sound/performance. Dynamat is the same idea - mass loading/damping the area around the speaker to lower resonance and quiet the car's rattles - allowing for a more efficient audio system (less energy required to fight/overcome road noise). Here's a picture of speaker mounted to a baffle:

 

leave them stock, mess with the settings on the deck till your happy and add a good sub and amp. thats what i did and i absolutly love it. i think ssp "feel" on the XA setting sounds good with the bass on +2 and treble on +3 or +4, and the fade +1 to the front. i have no distortion or popping or anything.... it sounds loud and clear, especially with my sub in the back. i do not plan to ever change out the stock speakers or the stock deck EVER in this car it sounds fine as it is and i want to keep mysteering wheel controls and ipod hookup.

 

The tC's stock system is one of the best STOCK systems available- but for those that want more, it's certainly available and there's LOTS of room to grow. There's plenty of after market head units that offer iPod control (Premier 880, Alpine 9865, 9857, etc.), and this January at CES will offer even more iPod friendly units.

The PAC SWIX is one way to continue to use the factory steering wheel controls, or for those that are more electronics friendly, it's fairly easy to work around them as it's just a voltage divider (multiplexed) setup. If you search on here, it's already been discussed.

tcguy85 - I'm glad you're happy with your setup, but let's not be so quick to suggest to others who asked for a better system that the stock tC system is as good as it gets...

In my car, there are no rear speakers for this reason: when you go to a concert, all the live music is coming from in front of you. Ideally, all the sound produced should sound like it is at about eye level over the dash, and it should image (create a distinct left, center, right....just like the band on stage. That image becomes distorted the more sources of sound you have.

My advice would be to install the infinity speakers up front, and disconnect the back speakers. Although you might carry around some passengers back there from time to time, for your daily driving (presuming only 1 - 2 people usually) it will sound a lot better.

Trying to help you out with the channel question: it's a 4 channel set up. The Pioneer head unit is 4 channel out, basically one channel for each corner of the car (Front L, Front R, Rear L, Rear R...the tweeters DO NOT have their own channel).
