Default Stock tC speakers

I know in most cars, the first thing you wanna do is upgrade the stock speakers. I was wondering if anyone knows the quality of the tC speakers in the RS-2. I don't know if the stereo upgrade is just the head unit and ipod connector, or if it includes the speakers as well.

If I upgrade, I'm looking at the infinity components, with cross-overs. Is there any problems mounting the cross overs in the doors with the speakers, or should I mount them under the dash and just run wires?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

dont mount the xovers in the doors, thats a great place to get them moist. I have the pass under the glove box and the drivers somewhere under there, kinda hard to explain. Comps will be a great start, but i would suggest getting a new HU too! Just to liven up them a bit. Ive heard nothing but good about Infinity comps. Run the wires from the amp, dont start cutting wires. it will be kinda tough to get through the door boot but use a wire hanger and you should be good!

because the stock speakers are Pioneer SPSS speakers.. they are really nice speakers and you wont notice that much of a difference going to a different brand.. I wouldnt change them.. I would just add an amp, sub and a different head unit..

the sub and amp will over power the speakers. comps, amp and a nice hu will be a good start.

I have a 1200 watt Teknique amp with a 12 inch l7 kicker sub.. I have the stock headunit.. I leave my bass at 0.. the midrange sound comes out of my speakers and most of the bass comes from my sub.. it actually sounds extremely nice.. hits hard, sounds clean..

I'm pushing 500 watts into a 12 and its too much for the speakers. I have bass set to -3 but can easily boost it up for a rattling good time. I'm going comps asap and keeping my factory HU for now.

upgrading my headunit made a huge difference in sound still using the stock speakers. i changed out the stock speakers and it sounds the same, even worse at low volume. its only good when you turn it up cuz it can handle the extra power better than the stockers. im also pretty sure the speakers are the same cuz i used to have the ipod headunit and im pretty sure the speakers are the same.

I have no issues with the head unit. At the moment, I have the XM, I-Pod and 160 watt HU. If I were to upgrade, I'd have to redo the XM and I-Pod, and that just sems like a waste. I'll try an amp and sub, and do comp speakers for now.

What are the sizes for the front and rear speakers? I know the tweeters are 1"

Don't so rear speakers as you wont hear them. Front speakers are 6.5".

If you do replace the HU.. make sure you get one that'll hook into the steering wheel controls.. some HU's dont have the hookup and then you'd lose the functionality of that.. and honestly.. I rarely touch my HU with having the controls on my steering wheel..

In all honesty, the stock speakers with my new aftermarket HU sound about as good as the aftermarket speakers + alpine amp I had going in my eclipse.

I might consider replacing the rear speakers, because the lows coming from them get a little distorted at times. Might can fix that with a different eq curve, but the highs and mids don't sound bad at all. Once I boosted the treble, I was impressed that the stock speakers sounded this good.

I don't have my sub hooked up yet to be able to tell if it drowns them out, but I don't think it will.
