Default Strange HID Question

Hi everyone,

I installed my Mobile HID 6K kit a few weeks ago. I have been noticing that when I turn my headlights on, my radio reception becomes fuzzy immediatly. Now I know that the ballasts create a pretty large magnetic field, but is that what is causing this? Has anyone else noticed anything like this with a HID kit? Finally, are there any fixes for something of this nature?

If the ground to the relay harness is on the chassis itself, put it on the negative post on the battery. That will usually fix the problem.

The ground wire is already on the negative battery terminal. Any other suggestions? But I do appreciate your fast responses!

What brand HID kit did you get? I read from another forum that certain ones will have this result.

Heres a link to some info. Maybe try checking your connections. Make sure everything is firmly connected, also try using different ground connections on your car. Good Luck!

Its the Mobile HID kits that a ton of people on here use. The interfence only happens when I'm in the sticks or vallys also...never at my house or in the city.

Yeah its not really a big deal to me I just found it to be odd. Where did you mount your ballasts? It could be where I put mine, one velcro'd to the top of the fuse box and the other fastened the same way to the car on the body directly in front of the passanger headlight. I did it that way for easy removal if ever a warranty issue.

my ballasts are on both sides of the bumper bar. its hidden and no real water issues there either. i would prefer them there over a lot of places i see people putting them on here. the only thing is u have to take off the front bumper to do it.

I have the same problem with mine. I also have an avic-d3 installed. Do you have a factory radio or is after market?

i have the pioneer d3 too. its been making a lot of noise every time i turn on my hid. I got the ground loop isolator it helps but its still there. so far i brought three different brands. one at the local audio, one at the swapmeet and just bought one today walmart. nothing works. there is still noise in my front and rear. im running a 4ch alpine for the speakers and performance tek for my kicker. I was messing around with it about 2 hours ago and now all my speakers doesnt work so i literally took everything out. hopefully to fix the problem tomorrow.

any luck with any isolator

i got the

install edge ground loop isolator
scoshe ground loop isolator
dnf ground loop isolator

the best is the dnf. but theres still noise

I believe its strictly from the magnetic field generated from the transformers (ballasts)

I would get that ballast away from your fuse box. A lot of us have the driver's side ballast mounted on the sidewall near the airbox.
