If your putting it in your TC you wouldnt need to worry because its going to be held in place by four ten mm bolts. Factory brackets are used and those screw into the D3. I use my factory cover and put it down each time I leave my car...

so even if they try to take the avic out then they would have to rip out all of the dash in order to get to the bracket right?

they would need to remove the front of the center console around the shifter.......the waterfall........then unbolt the mounting bracket...... and unhook the harness.........it would be noisy and not too easy without the tools......with tools it comes out in under 3 minutes......but not many punks stealing radios are carrying tools......

mine was $230 installed........i did not need the remote start or kill switch or that other crap they try to sell you........i just got the alarm to go off if you bust a window or open a door or lift car up to take the wheels.........i already have lojack in it and the version i bought calls you if car is moving and you are not in it.......but that was spendy......

I can remove a headunit in like 2 minutes from a TC, it's not hard at all if you know what you're doing.
