Sub and amp noob needs help!
So i'm looking at subs, speakers, and amps. Before i can actually narrow things down, i need to know how to match the parts together. So, how would i power two subs, like jl audio w6s? Each runs at 400 watts RMS (i don't even know what that means), so would i need an 800 watt amp? Could i use a mono amp to power two subs, or would i need to get like a 4-channel amp and bridge the connections? Or would i need one amp per sub? Basically i need a crash course on amps and subs.

For an amp of that wattage it would probably better IMO to go with two amps that run at about 400-500 watts rms.
Make sure they run at 4 ohms as well at 400-500 because that is what JL W6's are made for.
I didn't understand either I ended up getting these:
that would be the JL 10" W6
And a Kenwood amp that runs 500 watts rms at 4 ohms
And I have to tell you that hits pretty damn hard on its own
Not sure if two would be good for your health

not to burst yer bubble... but a single JL w6 can't run @ 4 ohm load. It's a dual 4 ohm voice coil setup. as such you can either wire the voice coils in parellel and get a 2 ohm load or you can wire them in series to get an 8 ohm load.
the system that i'm building is going to consist of 2x JL 10w6v2's and 2x jl 500/1's. I'm going to wire one amp to each.
