You do pay for what you get, and you will get more out of a set with better subs.... but if you're looking to save money... you'll have to sacrifice a bit of quality....
uhm...xtreme.....no.
simple.
if your looking to buy a good cheap set up that is decently loud...
use ebay.
for 300$ you can get...
for example
http://cgi.ebay.com/MTX-New-Pair-10-...QQcmdZViewItem
subs
http://cgi.ebay.com/MTX-MXA-4001D-MO...QQcmdZViewItem
amp
now i know mtx isnt the most impressive.
but on a budget.
they slam
and will kill those extremes.
just my opinion
but ive only been in car audio for 5 years.
im still learning
heh

Most car audio stores mark their stuff up 50 to 100percent. On ebay, you can find good stores that do not do that. For example when I worked at Best Buy (couple of years ago) I could buy a pair of speakers that were originally 99/pair for 49 a pair. Go to ebay and get some good stuff!
