Default Think about getting this sub....

I am planning on getting one 12 inch alpine type r sub. I was wondering what one the get the 4q+4q or the 2q+2q? What amp should i get with this sub? Also what enclosure should i buy a bandpass or a regular one? Also i will be hooking it up to my stock head unit. Thanx.

the VC configuration depends on the amplifier you're going to get. If the amp puts out it's highest wattage at 1 or 4 ohm mono, you'll want the Dual 2ohm VC... if the amp puts out it's highest wattage at 2ohm mono, you'll want the Dual 4ohm VC....

I would definitely stray away from bandpass enclosures. Look for a sealed box with an internal volume within the specs of the sub. OR, have a ported enclosure built that is TUNED around 30Hz and built to the t/s parameters of your subwoofer...

I went the 6th ave electronics, and was listening to the alpine typer swr1242D with differnt amps. I decided the the best sounding one was the alpine swr1242D 12 inch sub with the jl audio 500/1 amp, and a ported box. They were charging an arm and a leg for the system, so does anyone know where i can pick this equipment up for cheaper.

Indeed.... or www.woofersetc.com

You need to know, though, that JL doesn't authorize ANY online sales... this means that if a JL product breaks that was purchased online and you try to send it back to JL for repair, you're going to pay out the bum for re-serialization and rebuild.... that being said, I've bought JL products online before and not had a problem with the quality...
