Default Too Cheap To Be True.... Avic Z3

So I definitely believe in you get what you pay for... But I believe in a damn good deal as well. Somebody tell me what is wrong with this picture because it seems way too good to be true...

yeah be very careful with some of those sites.. Especially when they tell you that you have to call (or they call you)them to verify your order.. They try to sell you some of their accessories and offer you ridiculous options and jack up the price that you originally paid for.. they wont let you get away with the cheap price. They twist the conversation, talks some technical terms and specs that makes you feel like a noob and tries to convince you that the product is worthless without those

You could always find a Z1 for cheap and buy the upgrade disc from Pioneer ($150). That will make it a Z3.

yeah, but my only problem with that method is that it takes some patience and skill. Not everyone has that. :D

the upgrade DVD route just involves patience (it takes around 2 hours for the upgrade to finish)

DONT DO IT BRO!!! i made the same mistake a while ago when i got my D3. Bought it from some place in New York, "BHPhoto" i think, which had a pretty legit looking web site. Ordered my D3 and waited a week with no reply from anyone, so i called their 800 number and got some b!tch who talked to me like i was 4 and told me that it was on back order for 4-6 weeks, AFTER i called before placing my order to verify they had it in stock, and they said they did.

So 5 weeks go by and im pretty ____ed off already, get a call from them saying that they got a couple units in but were only shipping them out if I bought their $175 upgraded extended warranty at a one time only price of $150 HAHA BS!. Told her no AT LEAST 30 times, then she said ok, your unit should ship out in another 4-6 weeks. Called back later that day and canceled my order.

I had a nice, long, informative post that I lost.

So, long story short: I usually try to make sure that a store has a physical presence somewhere that people can go into, even if I can't because I'm too far away - seems more trustworthy than a warehouse or someone's home. B&H Photo actually does have a real store in NYC, so either that one person just happened to have a bad experience with them or a real store isn't that helpful.

I also do a whois on a store that I don't know. I like to see when the domain was created (I like to see them in business for at least 1 year) and where they are located (sometimes the domain may be registered by someone other than the company, so that's not always the most effective thing). The TCP.com site appears to be registered in Portugal... not exactly China, the Koreas, or Indonesia, but not a local address either (could be the webmaster). Domain was created in April of 2007. Company info on the site says they've been in business since 1998 and the copyright at the bottom of the page says 2002-2008... but they only created the domain 1.5 years ago? Perhaps they had other domains, but because of fraud complaints, had to get rid of them. Or perhaps they bought out another company with a better name and kept that. Could be bad, could be ok. Did a search for their phone number on google - a lot of fraudulent site stuff came up as well as some other numbers they used, included a 718 number (usually outer four boroughs of NYC, as in not Manhattan). That got me to thinking about some radio ads I've heard where someone calls themselves the camera professionals... may have been B&H, but I could be wrong.

Be VERY careful of ratings sites - some of them are also fraudulent or some of them accept payment for higher ratings. ;)
