Default Touchscreen for car PC installed w/pics

So I've pretty much completed my screen install for my carPC, and I figured I'd share some pics.

All plastic baby, no bondo filler!

Painted with Duplicolor Bumper coating:

And a little bit of OZ:

The rest of the components will be finding their way into the car this week, work permitting. I plan on putting the motherboard inside the dash behind the screen. I've got a ghetto rigged case made, but I'm hoping to get a spiffy aluminum one fabbed up some time soon.

Comments and questions welcome!

That's a very clean install. I like it a lot. The black plastic is a nice touch and the car should have come like that from the dealer. Of course the PC is sweet too... Just no parking outside my house and stealing some WIFI.

At some point, probably yes. I'm not a big fan of sparkly interiors so it may just get painted FM or even the stock silver, but at this point I just wanted it done. I'm tired of spraypainting things... It takes too much effort to achieve anything even close to the wonderful effects of professional car paint.

I wouldn't do that! Or would I... Actually the goal is to have an always on wireless connection. My motherboard has a PCMCIA slot, so it will be pretty simple to achieve. Now, if someone would just pay for my subscription...

Which mobo are you using? I haven't built a carputer in about 3 years, so I'm a little behind the times...

Looks like an nLite'd XP install... yes?

My vote is keep it that color. That's obscenely gorgeous.

i was half joking. i dont have any problems with vista on my end tho. its just eye candy. if you are going to run with a carputer then why not run with vista cause it looks nice. its not like you are doing important data logging with speadsheets and word docs.

Or run MCN/Mandrake/Ubuntu/etc. w/ Compiz turned on. That way it looks nice AND runs fast AND you can work on documents if you want, too. :-D

^^^ Ubuntu FTW!!!

Plus you get to be a member of the uber cool linux club. Which pretty much guarantees you'll have more women than fingers.

For the motherboard I'm using the Epia MII12000. For software, yes, it's Nlited xp.. It hibernates when the car is shut off. Right now the front end is Roadrunner, but laziness may drive me to use Streetdeck.

I am thinking about keeping the black.. we'll see how this bumper paint holds up to use.

Thanks for the comments!
