Default TRD Short Shifter

Can someone update me on the TRD Shifter install? I'm not so much worried about installing the shifter as I am about removing consoles, etc... without breaking cheap platic clips and such... I don't really see a lot of screws, you know?

its all clips. Pull the shifter console area up with your finger nails under where it meets the console. Slide it up and it will pop out. Make sure to disconnect the cig lighter before pulling to far away. Its real easy.

hmm.. remove the center armrest big piece are two 10mm bolts inside the armrest and two screws where the shofter area is... then plug to disconnect... and move that out of the way and you'll get plenty of room.

simple philosophy of tC gutting: if you don't see/can't find a screw, nut, or bolt... it's probably a clip and just yank away.

yea.. he needs to remove the whole cage assembly (trd short shifter)

... unless you want to have a nice time reaching to get to the back bolts and to remove the cables.... it's easy to just get it out of the way.. it's just 2 plugs, 2 screws and 2 bolts... will make it ALOT easier.

i forgot it was the whole assembly. While your at it, shorten the shifter arm by cutting it. I did mine yesterday and put a new shifter **** on. The shifts feel so much better.

Hey, what works best for the "jaws"/clips that secure the console pieces? They refer to a "trim removal tool", I was just curious if my fingers would be a good substitute...thanks...

I mean does it really change the shift time all that much? I know the TRD says it shortens by 30% or 35% but is it really worth $525? Also how much is the twm stage II cost? If it works as good as the TRD and its cheaper I might go with it. I'm just wantin to know if its worth buyin or not.

my TRD was less than $200 on eBay - I'd say not a dramatic change, but I appreciate the shorter throw...

Ok well I found out from the dealer that the TRD is $335 but I was lookin at another post on the TWM Stage II and its only $144 and some odd change. I'll probly get that since it lowers the shfiter 2.5" and reduces the throw time by 35% and it looks nice on a tC. The lowered 2.5" makes it look like a new '06 Mustang Shifter. I know this coz I looked at the pics of the TWM tC install and my friend has a '06 stang 5-speed. That thing will roll lol.

just get the twm stage 2 short shift kit....if i remember, it was a little over $100, or something like that....install was pretty straightforward, and with a weighted ****, you can shift much faster...especially good for the track!
