Ive been wanting to do my car in ultra suede but my only concern is the dash. Lets say i do the dash and by some misfortune i get in an accident. Will the passanger airbag deploy and rip the ultra suede or is my pasanger toast?
I REALLY want to do it but not at the cost of the passanger airbag not deploying. Anyone know?

Im pretty sure that the airbag will have no problem ripping through that suede. Go for it

 

thats kinda what i figured as well since the ultra suede is thin but i couldnt find any info on a car with an upolstered (sp)? dash and a deployed passanger airbag. I need to be 100% sure that it will deploy through the glue and suede.

 

I think if the passenger side airbag is strong enough to punch through the durable plastic interior (tC) it'll be strong enough to tear some fabric.

I'd hate to see fiberglass flying at someone at a couple hundred miles per hour.... suede, allbeit a bit tacky in the tC, should be just fine.

Fiberglass, while possibly good looking for a dashboard, would not be worth the risk, imo. Someone hits you good and you're shredded beef.

Even if the airbag deploys. Hell, the glass would probably tear the bag and you'd get a facefull of chemical burns as well as glass =/

where did you get fiberglass from? we're talking about suede. (trying to resurrect this thread to see if anyones done it)
