Default Upgrading 2008 Factory 6.5" Sub

Without ANYONE saying, "That'd be a waste of time" or something along those lines....I am just wondering if it's possible and if anyone has done it. I was thinking of swapping out for a Kicker CompVT 08CVT654 Shallow 6.5" subwoofer. Check it out:

Specification

* Diameter: 6-1/2"
* Impedance: 4 Ohms
* Power Handling: 150W/300W (RMS/Peak)
* Frequency Response: 25Hz - 350Hz
* Mounting Depth: 2-13/16"
* Mounting Cutout: 5-9/16"
* Rec. Sealed Box
* Volume: 0.2 - 0.3 cu. ft.
* Rec. Vented Box Volume: Not Recommended

I was thinking of doing something like this. Will the Sub you posted fit directly into the 08 oem Sub Box?

I don't know..that's what I am hoping to find out w/ this thread. That'd be awesome if it did. I probably just need to take out the stock sub and take measurements

Well make sure you post up your measurements if you do.

The specs on the sub you posted says a sealed box is recommended and the stock 08 sub box is not sealed by anymeans so...

might want to look at the ED 6.5 sub.......it will fit and after looking at the stock pub speaker it is fairly cheap and any up grade would be better...

I'd prefer something that hit all the way down to 20 Hz... there's not a lot of music that goes that far down, but when it does... it's really impressive.

I put the ed sub in mine and needed to fabricate a 3/4" baffle and add spacers to keep the excursion of the cone off the floor. The box is tuned pretty well for what it is and it'll hit fairly hard but doesn't go as low as I would like. I'm running 150 W to it along with 150W to the ed 6000s up front and the SQ is VERY good but definitely nothing to show off. It's a good package altogether compared to stock, still entirely stealth when you hide the amp. I'm sure the ed stealth box with the 10" would be infinitely better.

Oh yeah, I forgot. It looks like your sub isn't as deep as the ed and you might not need to mount it to a baffle and just raise it off the floor a little.
