Default Upholstery/Soldering Questions!!

Situation-

When I traded my 06 tC for the 08 and had to take my "aftermarket (black and white) seats" out, the dealer wouldnt let me just swap the seats. The wiring harnesses were different so the 06 airbag light came on and that wasn't "acceptable" to trade it in. So to solve the problem, I got my seats out the 06 (the black and white), they went in my new 08, a friend of mine took the seats that came with the 08, and his original seats from his 06 went in the 06 that I was trading in. That made the trade-in possible.
My airbag light has been on in the 08 ever since the swap, and I would like to resolve the issue, being no one seems to be able to tell me whether my airbags will work or not, and thats kinda scary.
I either need to swap wiring harnesses/solder them back together....which is up in the air as to whether it would work; or take the upholstery off my black and white seats and swap them with the upholstery from my friends seats...which are the ones that are supposed to be in the car.

Sorry that was long, drawn out, probably confusing, and a clusterf*ck but my friend is soon to be trading his seats for racing seats so I have just a couple days to figure something out or the opportunity will pass.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Put a little piece of electrical tape over the light.
