Default US Amps

I went on a google search for some good SQ amps and stumbled across a name called US Amps. I then stumbled across this http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=5308

My question is, Does anybody know if these are good? I read they got bought out by some korean company, I could be wrong, and was wondering if they were still an alright amp?

As you can tell, I'm really looking for a good SQ amp but I don't want to go over $190 and I need it to be at least 100w RMS x2 (4 ohm) for my PG RSD65cs's.

^ That has some serious features on it. Is this the best I could possibly get for $190? I need more opinions before I take the plunge.

The kicker sounds like a really good option, though I find it hideous personally, but if you can hide it, buy it lol.

In response to your question, yes, US Amps was a very good quality amp at the time. Nowadays they're pretty treasured by old schoolers and can go for a hefty price if it's the right model. Pretty much if you pick up a good, solid Kicker, Alpine, Fosgate, JL, Infinity, etc. amp you're going to be fine as far as SQ goes. Just make sure you give your RSD's AT LEAST 75wrms. They can handle it, trust me! Mine get 150wrms per channel and handle it like champs!

Don't cheap out on your amps, you'll regret it.

i agree with it all!

and yea i also find the SX series from kicker to be quite ugly. look into the ZX series by kicker, maybe a ZX450.2. thye can be had on ebay for around 200 brand new.

Though it does have a LOT of features going for it, think of the ones you'll ACTUALLY use. Many products are advertised based on a slew of unneeded feature that just bloat the product and make it too flaky. The only thing you need in an amp is pure, clean power, a high/low pass filter, wide gain adjustment, and MAYBE a subsonic filter.

All that other crap is just that, crap...that you'll probably NEVER use.

Stick with what you know, simple.

I'm willing to stretch my amp budget a bit to get the best one possible. So far Kicker is the only brand mentioned..I've seen an Alpine PDX2.150 going for about $240 but I don't know enough about amps to pick the best...After the rsds, wires, and baffles I have about $255 for an amp..Of course I don't want to overspend if you won't notice a difference between amps. Maybe I should get the ZX450.2 and $76 worth of eDead v1se? Help..

The PDX is a solid amp, I haven't heard anything bad about it. The efficiency of it is ridiculously good. Don't forget the small footprint. In the near future, probably summer or so I would like to get the PDX1.1000 and the 4.100 and stack them together.

Are you saying that you can get the kicker zx450.2 AND 76 feet of eDead for the same price as the PDX?

If so, get the kicker. The PDX is great, but 76 feet of eDead will cover your whole car!!! lol... I'm trying to get about 15 more to do my trunk and then I'll be set

If the PDX and Kicker are close in price, it's really up to you as far as style and footprint go, both amps will serve you brilliantly! Don't worry about that

I could get the ZX450.2 and 40sqft (~$76) of eDead OR I could get the PDX without deadening and save ~$16...

Heh... well I love the PDX, but if you can accept the size of the Kicker, get it! That 40 sq. ft. will make a WORLD of difference in your system, trust me!

I'm pretty sure the eD baffles are just made of MDF, in which case, with weather, they will deteriorate. I used these in my car and they worked GREAT!! Super solid and sturdy and they produce NO vibration whatsoever. I used them with my RSD's and put the foam surround that comes with the RSD's in between the baffle and the speaker basket just to make a good solid seam. Worked brilliantly.

I highly recommend them for $20 shipped!

I already bought the eD baffles and read that you can just spray them down with some spray paint to seal them.

Ehh, alright. Just make sure you coat them well with spray paint, possible a minwax sealer or something.
