Default Weather Tech Custom Floor Mats = Fail on Manual..

Weather Tech/ Mac Neil Automotive

I stopped by my local Pepboys to order a set of the custom fit floor liners for my 06 tC a week and a half ago. They came In yesterday. I stopped by to pick them up last night and installed them this morning. When I went to drive the car the clutch felt weird, it wouldn't come back up, It was 0 out this morning so I kind of Freaked thinking something went wrong with the clutch mid intersection. I went for it again and it came back up, so I continued on to find a place to pull off, and it was stuck down again, It made me very nervous when I realized It was getting caught under the floor mat. I pulled over and yanked the floor mat, then got on the phone with the manufacturer. The phone system is enough to annoy anyone, one of the ones that lets you know your on hold and rep will be with every few seconds. common just shoot me already, did I forget I was on hold already? Would I remember the issue when you did get to me?

As soon as someone picked up I said I’d like to speak with the highest person I can. (thinking this could really hurt someone) Got on the phone with the highest person and told him what had happened and I thought they should Know before someone got seriously hurt and sued them.
He seemed very laid back about it, told me to return them to the store and they would look into it. I asked to speak with the whomever was highest because he didn't seem to care all that much about the fact that I scared the crap out of myself, and someone else could get hurt.
He just told me they would forward it to the engineers, and was done with it.

I called back and someone hung up on me.

So the third call, I told the lady that picked up the phone pretty much this: I was hung up on by the last person, and the first person really didn't care. The floor mats for the 05-10 Scion tC that you released not too long ago are too tall and cause the clutch peddle to get stuck on the floor, and since you don't seem to care all
that much and don't seem too concerned about getting the issue taken care of, If one person has an issue because of a design flaw that you guys didn't take prompt care of.... I will be in touch with the person and testify on their behalf If need be. She took down my number and stated that she would give him my info when she saw him.

I spent $130.00 on floor mats that didn't fit, tried saving them from a huge headache it could have caused and treated like crap.

If you spent that much money why not buy the OEM 2 in 1 floor mats?

^^ because the OEM 2 in 1 are not available anymore from the Dealer. I think it has to do with that whole Toyota acceleration/floor mat issue going on even though the tC was never named in that problem.

Also, I'll make sure not to deal with Weathertech, was looking to get a friend some of those, not anymore. One bad review is good enough for me. Sounds like they made a generic size for the tC without really checking the details.

OP, did you try and take them back to Pepboys? I don't remember reading if you tried to or not.

You could get the floor mats instead of the floor liners if you really want an all weather mat in your tC.

I've got the liners in my xB2 and I've have 0 issues with them. I think they are great.

The 2-in-1 mats for the tC were discontinued LONG before the floor mat issue (that's more of a stupidity issue) came out.

:::edit:::
The floor liners have a large lip at the front of them that goes up the floor pan a little bit to help control liquid on the floor. It sounds like the floor mat clips are irrelivent in this issue. the problem isn't the scooting forward of the mat but the size of the front lip.

Can you cut the front lip down so it wont interfere with the clutch pedal?

Are you talking about the DigitalFit mats? I've had the front row for about a month with no problems.

Dumb questions, but are there any other mats underneath, and is the driver-side one hooked in? I wonder if this is a Toyota thing with all these problems people are having with other mats also.

I just took these this morning...

I've had these for a month with no problems, but after looking at the mats this morning, I can certainly see why some people may have problems with them.

I'm still happy with these, and I just got the 2nd row ordered.

I noticed the lip right behind the clutch. That's probably asking for trouble.

Here's me pushing the clutch all the way in...a good amount of clearance

Here are the hooks...

the only problem i can ever see with any floormats.. (even with the OEM ones).. are that it wasn't installed properly with the hooks that keep the mat from sliding forward

if the mat slides forward.. obviously you'll get clearance issues with the pedals.. and the front lip doesn't seem to be an issue as pictured above.. (unless i suppose you installed like bigger aftermarket pedals or something..)

those mats don't look half-bad
