Default what do you think about adding tweeters

i have the pioneer TS-D161R 6.5" 2-WAY 260W speakers on both my door panels and rear, now i am thinking on adding the pioneer TS-T15 3/4" component soft dome tweeters that are 120 w max. to my front door panels, what do you think about this plan....i might later on add a on 4 channel amp just for carity, not for mega bass, i also have the VSE bazooka in my rear hatch...let me hear some opinions

i think its a decent idea.. i don't really have a problem with the stock tweeters, though. if you do go through with it, you'll def. want to get a 4ch amp

jaxtcracer--What do you mean by your stock tweeters, your door panels already come with them installed...or are you refering to the tweeters already built into your existing door speakers

stock system comes with tweeters.

i'm assuming you're running the setup active so you'll want a 4 channel with xover capabilities.

also what i hate about pioneer is they do all these max ratings for power.

your midbasses are 60 watts rms not 260 watts. and your tweeters you're looking at are 40 watts rms.

the nine.4 would be good

just make sure you set your gains and your crossovers correctly so you don't crossover your tweeter and midbass really low.

AGAIN WHEN YOU SAY STOCK SYSTEM COMES WITH TWEETERS, where are they actualy..built into the door speakers it must be because i dont see any other separate dome tweeters anywhere...its not that round section on the door handles is it, because if it is i thought that was for decoration..let me know

You gotta be kidding. The stock tweeter is where you said it is. It's not going to be bolted to the door panel. It's bolted to the acutal door. It is seperate from the door speaker.

ok thanks for clearing that up, one more thing when i upgrade to these pioneer tweeters can they be fitted in where the factory ones are currently at, or do i have to make a separate intallation elsewhere on the door panels...

one more question, i went with the pioneer 2 way coaxials for my fronts, would it have been better to have gone with components instead

i haven't looked at the pioneer tweeters you mentioned so i can't comment on fitment into stock location. components would have owned your 2way coaxials. period. but you get what you pay for, don't you? keep in mind that if you do end up installing decent aftermarket tweeters with 2way coaxials of average sound quality, you might end up with a very very bright sound (oversaturated with high frequency). if i were you, take a really good listen to your setup as you have it now. put in a favorite cd or something, listen for how good treble sounds such as "S's" in the vocals come out. if it's clear, you really don't need to upgrade. like i said, i think the stockers are fine, and the last thing you want is to have those "S's" piercing your eardrumbs because they stick out way more than your midrange. note: play with your EQ a bit as well. if you don't think your tweeters are cutting it, turn up the high frequencies on the sound spectrum. if you have any sort of decent headunit, you should have at least a 3-band eq to tinker around with. hope this helps.

so in your opinion 6.5 components would have been a better choice for my front door panels, and keep my 2 way coaxials for my rear....i can always get coaxials for my front since the fronts pioneer i have now did not cost me anything...let me show you some links of the speakers and head unit i have

(speakers front and rear)

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...756456,00.html

(head unit)

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...tailsComponent

VSE integeded bazooka subwoofer

and plan on getting a 4 channel amp with crossover capabilities, and as for components i like boston acoustic, infinity and pioneer, but any suggestions will be welcomed

whats your budget for components. It seems you're kinda new and probably wouldn't know the difference so if you're looking for a good starter set go for the ed[i] 6000v.2's

cheap and really good sq for the money. If you want something a little more go for the 6500's or look to a set of rainbows or DLS. you could always DIY and run active but it gets pricey with the amps and you have to really know what you're doing

to me with teh bostons you really have to step up to their top of the line to sound decent. but even when you do that they're really harsh and you have to have ear plugs to hear them. i've heard infinity and i really disliked the sq. very little midbass and the highs were not very clear. but if thats what you want go for them

never heard them but with only 60 watts i can't imagine they'd be too good.

Well personally i think buying tweeters is a waste. I say our stock tweeters are good enough. The TC has awesome clarity as it is. I've been in several cars and the TC is among the best for sound quality.

Defenetly components are the way to go in the front. I took my chances and bought Blaupunkt GTc 6 1/2 components and made a big difference, the only thing I didn't like about the Gt's where the tweeters and I later chagend them for some Polk Db 1000 tweters.

Go for componentes you wont regret it.
