what do you think about adding tweeters
As far as stock stereos go, the tC DOES have a nice setup stock. You never expect the world for a stock stereo, but for the money the scion has some decent sound to it.
But components are the way to go IMO.

if your looking for sq go with a component setup in the front doore and a 6 1/2 or 5 1/4 mid range in the rear without a tweeter. a tweeter in the rear will pull the sound stage to the rear and a single 10" sub is plenty in a sealed box.I have the quart 216 q series in the front ant the 6 1/2 in the rear with a jl w6 for the low end all running of a ppi 6 channel amp and ppi deq 230 eq and i listen to a lot of jazz(rippingtons, spyra jyra)and it sounds incredable.just some suggestions
my question is, according to those links you posted, your front and rear pioneer speakers retail for $160 a pair? i see that you said you got the fronts for free, but why spend that much on any speakers other than components?? go with elemental designs for components. they are quite affordable and from what i have heard, very good quality. FYI, back speakers = fill noise, not sound quality.
already done..purchased the elemental design components for the front door panels, will keep the 6.5 2 way pioneer coaxials for the rear, and also purchased a 4 channel amp with crossover capabilities
and as for the price of $160.00 for these speakers that are on pioneers main website is just suggested retail price, when i actualy did some research on their actual price from other venders it was actually $60-$65
