Default What is an overall of improvement in sound?

I was thinking the other day that it was about that time to go ahead and start twiddling with my audio quality....now I know that eventually I will have upgraded both h/u and speakers, but what would you consider the better of the two as far as overall improvement? I kinda lean towards speakers but also I think its because I sorta of want to wait to get a in dash/navi...which I currently can't afford. But just to get some thoughts, I decided I would post and hopefully get some interesting opinions.
Thanks,
Justin.

The headunit definately. The stock Pioneer speakers are actually fairly good, but the head unit is limiting their power.

If you are going to upgrade only head unit or speakers right now then by upgrading the speakers you wont notice as much of a change until you add in a new amp or a new headunit to give them the power they would need. However, if you change out the headunit you will notice an increase in the amount of sound the speakers put out.

How good of a wattage should the h/u put out to get a better sound out of the stock speakers? I believe our h/u's are currently 160 watts? so something better than that?. I'm sorta clueless when it comes to sound devices...any help would be appreciated.

not even that, your lucky to get around 20w to the speaker with a newer HU. But a newer HU is a great place to start and i would save the rest and be patient on whatever else you plan on buying. You should save up for some components and an amp to go with it.

i agree with everyone else, get an upgraded headunit. at max would be to add a sub to the stock headunit. i thought my system sounded great already, but then i upgraded my deck, and the diffrence overall is like night and day. to get the fullest potential of your music, dont cheap out on your deck, get a deck with alot of EQ controls (most have 3 band eqs;i have 13) , filters, etc. and you wont regret it .

oh yeah, and to be honest, the stock speakers arent that bad imo.

The factory Bazooka isn't too bad IMO.

i added a 400 kicker sub to my stock HU and changed it to xB feel. I liked it alot, but i really didnt have any control over my EQ settings, thats why i made the switch.
