What type of sound are you looking for? Load crisp sound or more of a mid bass and bass sound

If the HU you got has 4.1 channels, you should install a 4 way and a 2way amp, 12" sub and component (or high capacity regular speakers) that can handle your amps output...

I'm suggesting this because if you didn't get satisfied with a cheap system, you'll have to upgrade again and cost you more money...

The speakers you choose depend on your budget. I didn't want to pay more than $500 for the front and rear speakers. Lucky for me, I found the Polk db Components for $300 for both sets. (That was a awhile ago.) Here's the site where I get my car audio gear..

crutchfield.com

The offer free shipping (for purchases totaling over $129) and supply the speaker brackets and harnesses for free as well.

One last thing; the speaker sizes are 6.5" in the front and 5.25" in the rear for our tCs. BUT, you can fit 6.5s in the rear speakers. Some people will bash for even using speakers in the rear, but I have them and they work for me.

^^^ Crutchfield has em.

If you like emo you should get components, 2 different ohm subs running on separate amps to separate bass guitar sounds from drum bass and get a 4way amp of your choice for the speakers.

It should sound better than bose!

really take a look at DLS components. they're amazing but they're a bit pricey.

best speakers on the market today bar none. only place that carries them legally in the USA is elemental designs

http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/ind...Path=1_107_108

if thats too pricey check out the ed[i] 6000 v.2 set. great set and you can get it for under 100 bucks.

pm me if you wanna know how.

components means a 2 piece set. you have a speaker and a crossover. if you pull off your door panels you can see that we have stock components. when you upgrade your speakers you get a crossover that means you can set your crossover point.

also when you run any new speakers you're going to be required to get a new amp. if you want to run front and rear you'll need a 4 channel to be able to adjust front and back and left and right.

I also soon will be selling package specials on the left side of my site so be looking for those. I know audio and video equipment can be expensive so i try to give the best discounts possible because i too am a car enthu just like all you guys and know what it is like.

Let me know if I can be of any help!

Thank you

To start off: when pairing up amps and speakers, match up RMS wattage numbers, not peak wattage numbers! Peak numbers are useless! It is the maximum number of watts a speaker can take before it turns into a paperweight, not what it can take on average. This is a common misconception with people new to car audio.

Ohms are the resistance of a speaker's wiring. 4 Ohm speakers are most common, and are compatible with all head units. 2 ohm speakers usually handle a greater amount of power, but they have to be amplified, as most HUs cannot handle 2 ohms. Again, when matching up wattage numbers, make sure the ohms match as well.

Dual voice coils are not common on mid-bass components, but is seen most on subwoofers. If you need to figure out wiring for DVC subs, just post here again saying so.

A crossover sends the proper frequencies (high and middle sounds) to the proper speaker. A component set contains two speakers, a tweeter that plays the highs, and a mid-bass speaker (the one in doors) that plays mids.

Speakers that have a tweeter on the mid-bass speaker are called coaxials. Coaxials would be good to put in the back door panels. Most people will say that rear speakers are not needed for good sound, but I completely disagree.

I have the same listening preferences as you, and as such would recommend that you get two 10 inch subs. They will kick, and still have enough volume to satisfy most people.

This guide is all you should possibly need to install a system in our car. It is incredibly easy, but rather time-consuming.

Anymore questions, please ask!

Yes Crutchfield has them, but why pay more for the exact same thing?

Are you able to go to any local stores to listen to different speakers? Do any of your friends cars have after-market speakers that you heard and liked (or disliked)? It looks like you're planning on replacing the 4 speakers, and trying to keep the system as simple as possible - using the internal amplifier in the JVC, etc. There's nothing wrong with that - as long as you're learning how this all works, and with a well thought out plan from the beginning, your system can grow without upgrading the same items repeatedly...

Some great coaxial speakers:
http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...?model=SPR-17C
http://www.criticalmassaudio.com/coaxials.html
http://ozaudio.com/pages/V650X3.html
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_c...hp?comp_id=126

Any of the above would be a great start, as all have great performance. They can be driven by the internal amplifier - but will sound better with an external amplifier.

You'll want at least one subwoofer. Check into pre-fabricated (loaded) boxes for simple installation:
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_e...=9&prod_id=424
(Above will need an amplifier)
http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...hp?model=PLT-5
(Above has an internal amplifier)

You can get most of the above equipment at great prices on ebay - however, I suggest you develop a good relationship with a reputable shop near you. They'll help maximize the performance of your investment...of course, we're here to keep their "advice" in check.

eD is NOT the only place you can buy DLS authorized. There are lots of brick and mortar shops across the USA, however eD's one of a very few (two I think) authorized ONLINE stores that offer DLS products; one of the other's being: http://www.mobilesq.com/shop/index.php

Check with DLS's site, or call to verify: http://dlsamerica.com/

DLS is hands down NOT the best speakers. Thats more of an opinion rather than fact. DLS is good, but not even close to the best. A rather ignorant comment. I believe rocketgirl has provided some of the most elite products, that if you have the cash, go for those. Critical mass has great products.
