hmm... is the TRD **** weighted? I've been looking at it for a long time, and it looks great... I think I might prefer it over metallic *****

Not sure about MOMO, but http://www.twmshiftknobs.com/ are weighted. I personally like the bombshell...it's not the best looking shift ****, but I would recommend it if you're looking for weight.

The RAZO ***** are pretty crappy. The leather on their one leather **** came right off because the adhesive melted in the heat. Their all-metal ***** are fine though since there's nothing that can come off.

What I look for:

1. Feel. It should be comfortable above all. I prefer a ball shape **** over any of the others. The shape of the stock **** is terrible.

2. Weight. So long as it's heavier than the stock ****, great.

3. Won't get as hot as sin. That rules out all of the metal *****. I had a TWM Classic for about 9 months, and owning it in the summer was like a punishment.

4. Height adjustability. Not only is the shape and weight of the stock **** terrible, the height isn't adjustable.

5. Mounts solidly. I don't care for basic thread ons or sleeved "universal" *****. They all invariably loosen up over time.

I couldn't find what I wanted anywhere, so I just made my own. It's perfect.

Thanks for the replies.

Dr. Isotope, how did you make your own ****? Why do you prefer a ball shape over others? Is it more comfortable?

I turned the **** in three parts: a brass center to give the **** weight, the body of the **** itself, and a collar to replace the irritating chrome piece that goes below the stock shifter. The completed aeesmbly weighs 12oz-- less than the SS offerings, but it doesn't get so hot that you can't touch it.

I have fairly large hands, so most shiftknobs are uncomfortably small-- baseball sized is comfortable to me. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

Weighted ***** make it easier to go into the next gear during shifts. you usually wanna try to get a **** that is atleast threaded for your application a little blure loc-tite can ensure it wont come off that easy. the universal ***** with the 3 allen screws not only destroy your shifter over time but need continuos tightening. Adjustability shoud be done in the shifter not the ****. if there is a **** that is adjustable.....avoid using it...hahaha

hmm okay. Cool. So I want a weighted ****. However, I live in TX and my tC is BSP. So I definitely don't want a metal one as I feel heat more easily than others as it is.

So, what's a nice, weighted, non metal shift ****? Man this is much more complicated than I imagined...

A wood, leather, or duracon/delrin/acetal (plastic) **** can weigh as little as 2oz. The OEM **** weighs right around 6oz.

A TWM Classic weighs 16oz, and the Bombshell weighs 19oz.

The effect? Your shifter is a simple lever. Put a heavier weight at the top of it, and the lever becomes easier to move. That's all there is to it.

Just the acetakl part of my **** weighed exactly 4oz, so the Monsterknob + hardware should fall into the 4-5oz area.
