Mythbusters did 161 dB at 16 htz with a 51" custom made steel woofer powered by Mercedes Diesel. Pretty wicked stuff, google search "mythwoofer" for details.

indeed, but the topic seemed to be going in circles, so I wanted to demontrate what an extreme example would look like.

Besides, it's a diesel powered, 4 ft+ woofer, how cool is that?

Practical???? NO. So it's still irrelevant.

You're not picking up what I'm putting down: Bigger doesn't mean better. When in doubt, max things out to see if there is a difference. There isn't except for a lower, inaudible note, therefore at somepoint in the growing of woofer size, you cross a threshold whereby you lose by going bigger.

Take it for what it's worth.

And why would you point out whether or not something is practical in the middle of a conversation about an 18" woofer stuffed into a tC?

I say just let the guy get his 18" overkill sub and have him learn from his experience, whether bad or good

Thats the biggest load of crap I have ever heard. The smaller the sub the tighter the sound???? The louder you can crank them w/o distortion. OMG

What kind of sub did you try to run with those 2 18s? What kind of subs for those 4 12s? What was the box size for each setup. What kind of amp. Electrical... IN the "CORRECT" box the 2 18s will be louder than those 4 12s, 2 18s have more cone area than 4 12s for one thing, given if the amp was the same.

So what kind of numbers have you put up with those 16 10s?

More cone area??? i am pretty sure that 48" is more than 36"... but that is just my input! and if they are getting pushed at the same power i am pretty sure that 48" is louder than 36"...

Dude learn about subs before you come back in here to talk.... a 12" sub has an effective area of 480cm^2 a 18" sub has an effective area of 1210cm^2. 4 12" so 4x480=1920cm^2 of cone area. 2 15", 2x1210=2420cm^2 of cone area. So which one have more cone area?

My 1 15" sub got a better score than some one with 4 12" at the last dbdrag I attended. So what does that mean?

HAHAHAH the bazookas will kill me. LOL I would hope so for 16 10inchers ROFL. But you couldn't understand what cone area is...so I'll just have to see.

Anyways if we were to do a dbdrag together you will be in Super Street 5+, and will compete with this guy right here, he's local to my area.

I don't hate I appreciate. I came in here to set things straight for people that don't know. Until someone can come in here and prove me wrong then be it.

However this past weekend also at the dbdrag, there was a guy there running street A, 1 12" sub and hit 155db....

Wow guys....you're making me want to use my mod powers.

Do you know the last time I had to use those in here?

I can't remember...you guys are normally so well mannered.

Hint: That's Chris saying knock it off or posts are going bubye.

As for the OP:

Only real downside is that it's not ported...oh, and it's a $250 box. I could get you a cut list, but the sides would be a nightmare. I made the box like that so that amps can mount on the back.

If you need anything, please shoot me a pm or e-mail, cschempp@edesignaudio.com.
