Default Wiring Problem?!?

Ok I'll start off with my old aftermarket headunit. It was a crappy one a friend gave me and we wired it up and everything worked fine but I noticed that sometimes NONE of my speakers would produce any sound but other times it would always work like nothing was wrong. This happened on very hott days and or just the occasional "wow I don't feel like working today mood". Now I installed a in dash dvd player and everything was working great! No probelms except for today. After class I decided to leave to grab a bit to eat and my NONE of my speakers would produce sound. Occasionally I would hear a crackle or pop like they wanted too or some of the wires were not connected right so I went home to investigate. I checked all the connections and everything seemed to be connected just fine. The headunit turns on but still no sound from the speakers. Now while driving around with it on for about 20 mins all of a sudden my speakers were producing music again!! My main question is what the F*** is going on with my car is something wired wrong?

Do you have an amp in the car?

if it was just one speaker that wasn't working i would guess at a loose connection.

But if it's all of them, it might not be the HU harness but the stock harness itself? Check to see if any of the pins are bent or broken... or something on the harness attached to the car? (wild guess)
