Default wiring question

i know what i have to do to put this in but i wanna know the best way.
im getting a ps2 slimline for free so i thought, "oh what the hell...i'll put it in my car!"
this is the adaptor.
i wanna wire it so i'm NOT taping into anything.
what would be the best way to do this?
should i just run an "add a circuit" to an empty fuse that turns on with my car.(did this for my footwell lights)
also if taping into it wouldn't be bad then let me know what to tap into

THANKS!

sounds pointless to me. imo, sorry.
changing dc to ac to dc lol
rather just change dc to dc
12 to the 8.5.
maybe if you switch the ocnsole out for other ones.
i think im just going to run another cigarette lighter (acc) and hide it under the dash, and attach this to it.
should i "add a fuse"
run a wire from something else?
battery?
thanks.

I don't think you can run the ps2 off of your dc power. You are going to have to buy the inverter. Will save a headache. Changing voltage like that isn't easy.

the slimline is already dc current, like a computer. the bower brick converts it into ac
so by using that adaptor its taking my car's 12 volt and dropping it to 8.5 volt dc.
i just wanna know the easiest way to put it in. it will work.

the ac adapter converts the ac from the house to dc to the ps2. almost all electronics run on dc this way. You would have to get a voltage regulator to regulate 12 volts to 8.5 volts and then hook up the ps2 without the ac power adapter. If you dont you will fry that ps2.

so wouldn't this, be what i needed?
plugs straight into the ps2 converts 12 to 8.5 volts to run the thing.
let me know if im messing anything or have no idea what im talking about lol.

on something like that I would go directly to the battery like a amp. Be sure to add the appropriate fuse.

the second adaptor you have will work fine. its not a power inverter, a power inventor is not what you need. what you are looking at, is a step down transformer which is perfectly fine for this set up.

I will tell you how I wired my N64, I didnt splice anything and no one knew any less.

Now, in your arm rest there is a 12V power adapter for the car where you can plug things into. Next to it, should be an AUX in input next to it.

Now that you know what youre looking at, remove the whole center console and armrest. There are a few screws towards the shifter and one 10mm bolt holding it down. (which is under a small piece of carpet in the center arm rest).

Pop the aux-in input out, and now you will have a hole to run the wire to where ever you want to mount the PS2 (whether its in the glovebox, or under the seat).

And now as long as you keep the center armrest closed, no one will know how easy it was to hook up.

Let me know if you have any questions

thanks. just making sure i wasn't going crazy.
i was actually planning on running another cigarette lighter via "add a fuse" and set it so it turns on with my car run it under my dash and plug the ps2 adaptor into that. possibly switching it.
would that be the best way of doing that?
i like your idea too but idk the wires would annoy me lol
