Default ZI or avn5495

i can't deicide which one should i get, the pioneer Z1 or the eclipse avn 5495, both are HDD navigation, it seems like the navigation on avn5495 is easier to work with and it's like the same system used on toyota and lexus which i m familiar with it, but Z1 on the other hand have some pretty cool features that avn5495 don't have, i don't have to worry about the price for now, i just want some feedbacks from u guys that are familiar with navigation system or u r a Z1 or avn5495 owners that knows a lot about these systems... i m getting this as my x-mas present for myself...

id pick the Z1 because...

- the nav on it is easy (my bro has one and i mess with it..lol)
- you can customize the backgrounds
- has bluetooth capability for cellphones
- bigger screen @ 7"
- i know there are ways to bypass the dvd thing, but im not to familiar with eclipse units so you wanna double check on this one.

so all in all i say z-1. unless you want to wait till the D3 comes out which iono when but its on the pioneer website ... it debuted (sp?) at SEMA this year and thats what im looking into

Eclipse! I've got the 5495 and love it. Its most compatible with the car and you can buy the upgrade map DVD on ebay for $20. That then turns it into the 5500 that you just paid hundreds less for! plug and play sw controls! awesome unit!

Using his info on the Z1 as a comparison. The 5496:

-the nav is incredibly easy to use
-background is customizable once you upgrade the DVD for $20 on ebay
-no bluetooth
-6.5" screen is plenty big
-Easy as heck to bypass the e-brake video issue...just don't connect it to the parking brake, ground it instead
-Since you can get the upgraded dvd, you are getting a unit that is much more expensive than what you are buying as the only difference btw the 5495 and the 5500 is the dvd that it comes with....

I've been using Pioneers Nav products since they came out with it (I'm an authorized Pioneer dealer, so I get to play with all their toys).

The Software on the Z1 is just incredible. It is very easy to use, you can navigate easily through any menu, the navigation software has a lot of new features compared to previous models, and it has TONS of room for upgrades.

I would definitely suggest geting the Z1. You will not regret it !

I've an AVN30D. Get the Z1. The Eclipse isn't bad... the Z1 is just way better.

how dare you consider tainting our beautiful Fujitsu Ten automobiles with pioneer filth. no brand dare compare to the eclipse. their made by Fujitsu Ten as well, so you know its a damn good product. hell the female plugs on the back of all high end eclipse are the factory Toyota harness. so it will install without any adapters, even the steering wheel controls work. plus the units push 5volts of power for their preouts, my cd5000 pushes 8 VOLTS!!!! i worked car audio for 3 years, and eclipse is buy far the high end audio (well their head units) their speakers, subs and amps are alright.

i love my pioneer, i dont think that they are "filth". pioneer is a very repected brand. granted it may not have the hi volt outputs as an eclipse, or use the same adapter as a toyo but they are not "filth". the newer lower end models are that great but pioneer is def not filth.

true true, im just so loyal to the whole toyota family, cars and stereos alike. dont get me wrong, pioneer makes dope stuff (especially their gyro meter ( http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...089326,00.html )with on screen display that can be hooked up to the avn screens. jensen is dirt, we have so many issues with jensen and phase linear. some problems with the single din flip outs, not much with their double din. i was only saying IN MY OPINION pioneer is dirt COMPARED to eclipse. now when i say dirt, i only mean not to my standards.

yes, you will need the PAC SWI-PS. If you need one, let me know. I sell them (I also sell the Z1 if you decide to get that).
