Default ===Purchasing a tC===

My friend is about to purchase a tC next month. He is looking at some options that Scion has to offer but he is not sure what is necessary to have. Guys, please give some advice. Thx in advance.

Your Scion tC (6221)

Base MSRP

$15,950.00

2005 Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price as of 6/2/2004, excluding the Delivery, Processing and Handling Fee (itemized separately), taxes, license, title and accessories or other optional equipment. Actual dealer price may vary.

Delivery, Processing and Handling Fee

$585.00

Historically, vehicle manufacturers and distributors have charged a separate fee for processing, handling and delivering vehicles to dealerships. Scion's charge for these services is called the "Delivery, Processing and Handling Fee" and is based on the value of the processing, handling and delivery services Scion provides as well as Scion's overall pricing structure. Scion may make a profit on the Delivery, Processing and Handling Fee.

Color

Super White

Transmission Type

Manual

Accessories

Accessory pricing reflects Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price as of 6/2/2004, excluding tax. Accessories marked with an asterisk do not include the cost of installation; installation is included in all other pricing. Actual dealer price may vary.

Interior: Carpeted Floor Mats/Cargo Mat (M5)

$145.00

Sport Pedal Covers by OBX Racing Sports: Silver (32)

$79.00

Interior: Auto-Dimming Mirror (GE)

$310.00

Exterior: Vehicle Shield Protection (Lusterizing Sealant, Sound Shield & Sealant Cleaner, Rental Car Assistance)

$349.00

Accessories Total

$883.00

Grand Total

$17,418.00

Does my friend leave out any option that is necessary to have?

By the way, what is this option, "Vehicle Shield Protection?" Its price is $349.

well, "your friend" might need to get tinted windows if he is in an area with a hot climate, seeing as how the tC has an all glass roof. And if he does that, he won't need the autodimming rear view mirror.

I find the cargo net to be handy and worth the money. I should have gotten mudguards and I will probably be getting them soon anyhow.

The vehicle protection thing is some clear appliques for areas of the car that are likely to get rock chips. Sometimes they are called "clear bras". They look good when the car is clean but look lousy when its dirty.

I've also thought about getting the interior light kit, so that way my car can be different just like everyone elses.

My opinion is to drop all the accessories except the sport pedal covers. I got them and they look good and not that expensive. The other accessories are way over priced and to me, that is how Scion is making some money on this car as the stock price does not give much profit to the dealer.

"thx.

I know, that's what I meant by "different just like everyone else's".

Although I guess it could be handy for finding something that you dropped on the floor, or if you have a tendacy to drink beverages while driving at night...

They'd be more of a conversation piece than anything else.

don't buy the accessories from the dealer, buy them online instead. i was about to buy the wheel locks from the dealer. good thing they didn't have any in because i would have paid $59+tax instead of the ~$14 i paid from sparks TRD. they were McGard ones too. i also got the pedals from sparks for about $35. everything seems to be about 50% less online than at the dealers.
