07-17-08 accident... pics inside
So, story then pics. I was in the left hand lane of a three lane interstate (I-70 East) behind a 08 Toyota FJ that was doing 45-50 MPH. Speed limit is 60 MPH and left lane is the passing/fast lane. I waited for the lane to my right to be open, when it was clear I got over to the right and sped up to 55-60 MPH. As soon as my front bumper was at the FJ's door, a silver/baby blue Dodge Stratus from the far right lane began to merge over into my lane. As he got closer, my instinct was to slowly get over to the left, this whole time I am getting past the FJ. The front right bumper of the FJ hit my car by the door handle and the tire pretty much tried to eat my car as you will see. I thought the Stratus actually hit my car, but no damage was/has been noticed. THe FJ and I pulled over to the left and the Stratus flew off... We swapped information, the police didn't think we needed a police report and just had us swap info ourselves, and we parted ways. I already called State Farm, my insurance company, and got the claim in and will be going to the body shops tomorrow for estimates. No one was injured luckily, but the damage is done. Feel free to post any comments. I'm taking better pictures in the daylight tomorrow. If anyone wants me to post them up here just say the word.

hate to say it, but this is going to make your rates go up, because, technically speaking, you caused the accident by swerving into the FJ. I was in a situation like that and I had to slam on the brakes and abort my pass. This was between two semi's and I'd have ended up road kill had I not done that.
Sucks, but at least you have insurance. Body shops always jack up the price on things for insurance jobs.....which then causes our rates to go up even more than they normally would. It's a total scam.
