I have heard from many other people that it is the transmission lubricant. Switching it to Red Line MTL solved the problem beautifully, and that is on the tC with grinding from 1st to 2nd. I hope that helps! TRANSMISSION LUBRICANT!

yes, there is a problem with your synchromesh. If it only happens during a cold start, the dealer will not do anything b/c the fact that the synchros conditions aren't getting worse. Usually, if there is a problem with the synchros, you would be grinding all the time. More than likely you can take your chance and inform the dealer, but don't have high hopes.

Well, for me, being that it's a brand new car (1 month old), I won't accept the fact that the dealer can't do anything. I'll make them give me a brand new tranny if that'd help. From what other people are saying, the lubricant can help a great deal. Otherwise, I'm making them order me a new car :-)!!

not tryin to say that the dealer shouldn't do nething, but u can't make them give u anything honestly...becuz the problem bugs you, but goes away after short time
im sure they will try to fix the problem, but they certainly won't jump to give u a tranny....

I'll make sure to let you all know what the dealer says and what, if any, the resolution is.

hoping it all works out, and gets taken care of...cuz i have seen alot of toyota/scion dealers not deal with scion customers very well, which is upsetting
some toyota/scion service dept.'s do hate to deal with customers who just bought vehicles and bring it back in shortly after purchase for little issues
but again, its not all dealers/service writers that are like that...most of them are willing to get it all handled, and taken care of for you

good luck. It's better to try than not try at all.
