Stomp on the gas, and the motor will start to pull. Shift at redline for maximum acceleration.

If you're cruising, easy on the gas and shift at 3k.
Not at redline, at 5700. I believe thats where peak hp is.

Redline.

You want peak horsepower to fall in the dead center of your rev range through each gear. That way, you're maximizing your average horsepower over the course of the run. If you shift early, you'll be maximizing your average torque over the run, which will feel faster but in the end will NOT be.

The tC's horsepower curve doesn't drop off dramatically in the higher RPMS. That would be the case in which you'd want to shift early.

If you look at a supercharger dyno, you'll see that the HP is still increasing at redline. This would be an instance when a raised rev limiter and even later shifting would be encouraged.

You want to shift where the point where you're losing hp in one gear meets the point where you're making horsepower in the next gear. So its ok if you go past your peak hp, as long as you dont go to far that before you shift you're making less hp than you would in the next gear.

i don't know the actual number (check your manual) but i think the maximum speed in 2nd is more like 45-50-ish mph.

boost? uhh.. no. like previously mentioned, double-clutching nowanddays is useless since the invention of snychros... granted if you're that crazy about it and want to... then you can kinda save on the sycnhros wear by double clutching.. it was used back then to engage the gear smoothly when there was no sychros (actually you HAD to double clutch) uhh... no boost.

And you learned this in the fast and the furious. Double clutching is used when driving semi trucks. If anyone double clutches their tc they need to stop driving and get an Automatic ASAP.

shoes can make a difference as far how smooth you are. i own a pair of dress boots. they have wide and somewhat thick soles. i can feel the brake on the side of them when im pushing the gas. and its more difficult to feel the pedals... VS. my chucks. which are tiny and "skin tight" on the foot, more like a driving/racing shoe, i can drive more aggresively in those.

as far as shifting. i get poor milage. i drive too fast and accelerate too fast. but its a thrill driving this car. usually i shift over 3k. closer to 4k. but for best acceleration go to redline. thats why its there. to get high enough to stay in the power band and still have room to rev through whatever gear you are in/shifting into.
