Default 2006 tC mid-year price increase

I just got a memo from Scion. Effective on all cars arriving by 1/30/06, the price on all 2006 Scion tCs are going up by $100. Make your purchase plans accordingly.

Actually, the $100 covers the cost of some new added rattles. They added $20 worth of chunks of loose scrap metal that they placed in strategic spots under the hatch panels. The other $80 is the profit margin.

youre probably just paying for some extra R and D into the cars, along with the increased cost of everything for 2006. Even the price of soda will be going up due to the cost of plastic increasing. 100 beans is nothing though, if it means keeping the car the same, or even possible making it better, i think its worth it.

DC Metro area.. lol. I thought it was happening in a lot of places. Hell, I've even heard of people buying used tC's for more than $17,000. !!!!

From time to time, a manufacturer will decide they need to raise prices on their products. In the car business, this is generally done at the beginning of each model year. Toyota has a history of having small price hikes in the middle of the model year. They do this so the new model year price hike doesn't have to be as big.

You're not getting anything extra for the $100. I posted this information now because there are some people who would rather buy a car sooner, rather than later if it means saving $100.

I live and sell them here in the Metro DC area. I'm in Springfield. The only dealer I know of that is marking them up is Ourisman as part of their "Ourisman Advantage" maintenance program. We all have processing fees, but the highest in this area is $299 at Tysons, Lustine and Arlington. The rest of us at right around $200.

There may be a few dealers adding a bunch of accessories to the car to run the price up, but that's a different matter. I disagree with that practice and order all of our cars stock.

If you're looking for a new tC without a bunch of extras, it doesn't take too much effort. I know there are some that are not on the program, but besides me, I know Alexandria and Miller are pretty decent and Waldorf on the other side of the river does a good job.

Cliffy,

Are you the one and the same that I saw on EdmundsTownHall a while back? Gosh, I haven't been there in ages.

Glad my dealer only wanted about $50 to do the paperwork and I drove away with my tags. An hour of my time at the SoS office is worth 50 bones.

Anyway, if you are the one and the same, greetings. Well, even if you are not, greetings.
