Just got my first Scion it’s also my first car it has no check engine light and 130k miles what is the first things I need to do as a new car owner to make sure this thing gets me to 200k-250k it don’t look like it’s leaking anything and when I got it I noticed a rattle at idle but it was a loose
heat shield added some foam and it’s brand new quiet 🤫 the oil dip stick is completely empty so I know that needs to be added mandatory I’m hoping to take it on a 17 hr trip and back in Christmas are these cars up for road trips like that say a 17 hr trip and 2 days later right back.

First thing to do is change the oil. If its off the stick they were not checking it enough. Do some YouTube research. These engines are notorious oil burners. I added some stp high mileage oil stabilizer to mine and it seems to help. My car has 255,000 on it and runs pretty good and doesn't smoke so you should have a lot of life left in it. Get to know the car and engine, keep up with your maintenance, oil in particular, and it will last. You will eventually need to replace rubber components here and there as it ages but that's normal.
