2nd day of my tC...i m scared...
This is the second day i got my baby tC...and i never know anything about Break-In-Period until tonite....
and i already have over 100 miles on it...but i drove to friend's place mostly thru highway.... i tried to keep it around 60 with different speeds and easy stepping on the gas...... but it went to 70 once.....
sigh...
so i m so worry and kinda scared..if i really did ruin the engine

What? lol. dont worry about your " break in period " when driving normal. ha, unles your bouncing the needle off of redline every gear then you wont do no harm...even then im sure itll be fine.

Haha, dont worry man. Ur engine will be fine. The engines will last you no problem, even tho you did some high way driving. When i first got my car, i had to drive back to school, and that was a easy back and forth trip of 200-300 miles hw all the way. I tried to keep it around 60 tho.

^^ yeah he's right.. just as long as you dont go redlining your engine you're good.. i think its suggested not to go beyend 4500 for 2k m but im unsure(dont remember) so far you're good

from what i know you have 9 miles to set your piston rings so going on the highway is the best thing for it because it will open them up fully when it is highest gear when i first got my car i had my father drive it home because he has been driving stick since th dawn of time the first thing he did was hit the highway...you also want to vary speed don't let it sit in one gear for too long because you want the gears to fluctuate.

Just make sure to do that first scheduled oil change! It's the most important oil change in the life of your car.
@ IcetC "because he has been driving stick since th dawn of time" Hahaha, that's exactly what I'd tell my dad if I had a manual after getting it.

my uncle used to design cars at the saturn plant in TN and i asked him about the "break-in" period and he said don't worry about that.. start out driving the car the way you will always drive it so that you will set the rings in faster and you will also find any problems that may occur while under warranty. makes plenty of sense to me :-)
so.. don't worry about being nice for a certain period or the so called "break-in" period. have fun with it!

good luk =] just make sure you use your first oil change around 4-5k and then you can push it all you want. reason? i can't really explain, but it has to do with your first oil being contaminated with something...

Uh oh, I have been romping on my engine to redline since 100 miles, im at 37500 now. Lol. Built toyota tough! I wil say this though mine seems much faster than others I have raced with similar modifications. I can keep up with tc with megan racing headers and full exhaust. I only have a cai and sp2.
