I was really unsure what car I wanted too.
I also think that no matter WHAT car you buy, you'll look at others passing you by and think "damn, I shoulda bought that XXX"
I've had my tC for two weeks now - and I love it.
But, being a car guy, I of course see other cars that I love too.
I could have bought any car I wanted - and I only say that because I want you to know that I'm very happy with the tC.
Would the Mustang GT / Crossfire / Solstice / 350Z made me happier? Dunno.
I bought the tC for a few reasons - it has a great pedigree - SCION is Toyota. It has great features for the money. it gets good mileage. The iPod stereo rocks. It looks pretty sweet too.

I think though that if you lust after another car, you should get THAT car.
If you love the tC - get it.

it was june 5th... i had a hard night of partying, and was running late to work. i had a 97 grand am gt with a newer motor (about 40k) and was cruising to work at about 80mph. engine blew...
for the first 15 minutes i was (clearly) rampant. then it dawned on me. I CAN NOW GET THE CAR OF MY DREAMS. the scion tC. this may not seem like anyone car of their dreams to some of you. but i am 19, i work my butt off, and this is what i got. i love every aspect of the car. there are a few things i would change about it... but thats what modding is about to me. and like everyone else says, for the money, you cant go wrong. if you want something that is... off the showroom floor, faster... get the rsx-s. But, like they say, a real project starts from scratch.

its up to you man. either 17000 or 24000 because of the "more agressive look". i think if i had the extra 7000 to spend, i would make my tC more agressive, with some motor mods, and save on insurance. but thats just me. take it for what its worth man. ultimately, its up to you.

if the Si were available last summer and i had a little more money, i'd have a hard decision to make. i would probably be driving a red Si right now. but for the money, the tC really cant be beat.

I never had, or will have, second thoughts...simply because I have YET to have seen a car that matched what I was looking for to the price I wanted. I was looking at USED RSXs that cost the same as my new TC.

Sure, I could list a bunch of other sport compacts that have higher-performance than my TC, but that's also a list of sport compacts that cost anywhere between $2 - $5k MORE than a Scion TC.

Seriously...what else could I have bought new (other than a Scion xB or xA) for $18k?
A Dodge Neon, but not the SRT4
Honda Civic, but not a Honda Civic si
Hyundai Tiburon, but no the V6 GT model
A Mazda 3 maybe, but I have a vendetta against Mazda
Corolla or Celica, but not the GT, S or GT-S models
You can't get a Volkswagen, Mini Cooper, Subaru WRX or Mitsu Evo for $18k.
The rest of the list: Hyundais, Kia, Suzuki, Ford Focus, Toyota Echo.

So no, I have no second thoughts. But it's easy for me because I'm using money as a factor. If you can afford a super-equipped RSX; and the additional money it costs over a TC is not a concern, then I don't see why you wouldn't get an RSX then (other than being totally in love with a TC!).

I had no second thoughts. most of the other cars were just out of my price range. the Tib was too heavy. and I couldn't find the 2001 Celica GT-S, Acura CL or Mitsu Elcipse that i wanted.

For about 16K the tc is what it is. It is a "sporty" economy car to get around town while getting decent gas milage. No it is not fast, it really doesn't handle that well, and it drives like a small heavy car. But it is Toyota and should last along time with little maintenance. Go ahead turbo it, sc it, but it will never come close to an STI or EVO. With 15k miles so far my wife is happy with it (yes it's a chick car) and with decent snow tires it does fine in the snow. So if you want to feel like you have a fast car, spend the money and get the new SI or RSX or EVO or STI or what ever. When I have a need for speed there is nothing like a stroked big block. Go ahead you may start the flaming now.

If you feel 7.4 is fast well good luck. And yes every tc I have seen on the road there's a cutie behind the wheel. Not that its a bad thing.

If you really want a fast car with a k20 in it, why not get the Si? its fast, and alot cheaper than the rsx-s. if you can afford it and thats what you want.. go for it. Buy a tC because you WANT a tc, not because your settling for one =P

I'll drive it, and learn to like it. So anyone else had 2nd thoughts before they purchased the tC or maybe after purchasing it?

Tiburon is getting discontinued in 2008, the car replacing it will likely be 3.8l (from azera) and RWD. It will likely be costing as much as the eclipse GT which coincidentally costs as much as a 350Z (give or take a thousand or two). So yeah, if you want a Z, buy the nissan version not the hyundai one IMO

Regardless of what engine the new hyundai sports car gets, it will likely be just like the delta. Big torque low hp for drivability on the sedan it was designed for.

On a side note, theyre rolling out a turbo accent, that will most likely flop hard.. who the crap buys an accent to be fast?

(okay I know theres alot of 4g63 swap'd accents, twin charged accents, etc, but Im talking from the factory =P)

yal kill me with this girl car ish. more guys have our car than ladies. what makes the tc a girl car?!?!?!? a vw bug is a girl car. some of yal think that the smoother the aerodynamics r the girlier it is? a girl car depends on what a girl does to it and what color it is. they r the 1s who arent complaining much about having 2nd thoughts about it and hp. i'm not knockin the 2nd thoughts, but it is 2 b expected from a brand spankin new domestic import that we own.
