^^ you don't have to admit anything to a cop. Where did you learn your rights? From the chinese? wow

Go to court and fight it, you'll probably find out that they just want the money, and give you zero points. I've seen that many times before. Look at the state of michigan, they're desperate for money! I bet they'd even try to give a ticket just when you're parked for LOOKING fast.. hahaha

fight it

there's a difference between a simple traffic stop versus other criminal actions. the cops i know will let you off 99% of the time if you admit to what you did wrong and polite. admitting to speeding is not a bad thing and doesn't mean you will get a ticket or fine since signing a citation is not admitting to guilt. the interpretation of the law is up the officer and the citation is usually left up to the actions of the person being pulled over. of course the only sure way to get around being involved traffic situations is to obey the traffic laws.

yeah it used to be like that in michigan where you could admit what you did. But that's has changed since the state is in such dire trouble, financially. I've heard of some ridiculous things around this state, like stopping someone for 1 over. Yes seriously. Around here if you admit something you've pretty much written yourself a ticket.

And 1 over is obeying the traffic laws, since speedometers are off that much from the factory sometimes up to 2-3mph off.

I am not arguing with you, i just think it's different where you are than what's going on in michigan

To me, if the cop asks you how fast you are going, he is starting to play games with ma and at which point I know I would be getting a ticket.

Being nice and respectful is always the good route, but 2 point for this bull is way too much. I would contest it.

9 times out of 10 they just want the money and don't care about the points.

But the fact that he was saying 75mph and your radar didn't go off sounds fishy to me. But my big issue is that 5mph over is really not that much in a 55 mph zone and not worth the points.

$105 isn't bad. Mine was somewhere around $150 and I just chose to pay because I was already in trouble on other offenses I wanted reduced. Really though, if this is stressing you out pay the $105 and forget about it. Everyone gets tickets and speeding is really minor. If you in a position where you're COMFORTABLE then go to court. Have your statement prepared and just read it to the judge. Make a day of it. Bring a buddy and some popcorn while you wait for your turn in front of the judge. Chances are you can't make it any worst unless you're a buffoon and only intend on bad mouthing the officer.

Actually, a lot of cops just want to hear you admit that you made a mistake, and they'll let you go. I pulled out of a parking lot pretty fast (I think my tires broke loose when I hit boost) a few weeks ago and got pulled over, after I handed the cop all my paperwork he asked if I knew why he pulled me over...so I said 'because I pulled out to fast?' So he just handed back my stuff and said 'Yep, take it easy next time.' Same thing happened when I went thru a yellow. I definitely made it thru, but I admitted that I shouldn't have gone, so they let me off, no warning or anything.

The point is not the money, the point is that it is crap and that is what they are wanting you to do. I forget the exact amount, but it is less than 10% of people contest the tickets.

That is crap if you had more people contesting tickets, you would have less of these tickets because the cop would know he would get called out on it. The cop is there to enforce the law, they judge is the one who can make the call. I feel more times than not, that the cop forgets this and thinks he is the law/judge.

This cop seemed like he was on a power trip the instant he told you "how fast do you think you were going?" That is not apart of Protecting and Serving and please if I am wrong tell me how this statement is going to Protect me of Serve me.

I am not saying all cops are bad, I have had my nice ones and I have told them "Thank you" because I knew they were doing their job and not being an jerk.

I am sorry, traffic violations get my blood pumping, because I feel that it is centered more around revenue than safety.

Yeah, I do agree with that. I have been let off for the same reasons. Something small that I owned up to that I knew I was pushing.
