87 or 89 gasoline!
well not hear where 89 is 10 cents cheaper than 87. 89 is what I use in my xB and no it will not cause problems. if you ran it in older cars i might worry. not the new stuff though. some will tell you different how it can burn hotter and mess up your injection system or something like that, but my family has run 89 in our cars for as long as I can remember and never has had a problem.

ill get you a picture. ask anyone in Nebraska or Iowa. we both run Ethanol 10% and it is 89 octane. if you dont believe me PM anyone in Nebraska or Iowa.
Sometimes its no 10 cents , but usually its at least 5 cent cheaper. Its subsidized in the Midwest so its cheaper to do ethanol than regular unleaded.
Ill get pics as soon as I can

Octanes higher than 87 in a motor designed to run on 87 will not do any physical harm to the motor, but your fuel economy and power will both suffer, as you will not burn all of the fuel. Catalytics and O2 sensors will fail earlier than they ordinarily would.
go ahead and fill up with premium...tell us of the amazing gains you get from your engine that was made for 87 octane.
getting anything higher than 87 octane is a waste of money. you should know that higher octane gases usually are just a lower octane gas with additives, esentially making them dirtier.(opinion)
higher octane gases need a higher temp to fully combust, this is why they are perfect for a turbo/super charged car, because this allows them to elevate in temperature enough to burn at the correct time. thats why you can't run a longer octane gas in a turboed car and have a decent idle/accelleration, because the fuel is igniting too early. (please correct me if wrong)

i did try that with my old civic.. 89 and 87.. the civic ended up getting some carbon build up when using 89.. it was (in my opinion) because the engine was designed to run on 87 octane and the optimal combustion wasn't taking place. Yes the catalytic did fail way way too early so yes the other post is correct in this.. All this time I thought higher octane was cleaner and better. But in the old civic is contributed more engine carbon build up, since the engine wasn't at the optimal combustion due to octane. Finally when I switched back to 87 octane and a healthy fuel system cleaning, the engine was clean from there and no more carbon build up..
so yeah with the tC just use 87, you'll save money and the way prices are going, you're going to need it!
