A car with dark color could have something to do with it. Darker colors can absorb more heat, and cause it to take longer to cool. And if any sunlight get into the car, the dark interior could also get pretty hot.

the ac is fine its just open your windows and sunroof to let out the super heated air and you'll be fine. i have a BSP and have had it since late aug.

just got my tC 3 days ago, and today is the hot day...upper 80s.
Not too cold...after 30 minutes, still not cool inside at full blast.
I'm in north FLorida. gotta take care of this soon!

Really that long? WOW! i remember when i got my tC it was summer time last year...I used it in 90 weather i will admit it took almost 10 minutes of driving to finally feel comfortable but after that i was fine...i find the best thing to do is to turn it on full blast roll down your windows for a few...then close the windows.

I took it back to the dealer when i first got it and noticed the a/c was real weak and took forever to blow cold air. The service advisor looked at me, laughed, and told me I should have bought a lexus instead.
i tested my a/c today. it wasn't super hot out today, but bright sun on a car sure makes it hot inside, especially since i left the sunshade open. my a/c cooled down the whole car in like 2 mins.

you should goto a different dealer, a real dealer

i wonder why so many tC owners are getting different cool down and heat up times. I honestly dont think the dealers will do anything about it. They will just say it is normal. They will probably only do something if the ac or heater doesnt work at all.

had the same concern, you have to press the button underneath the a/c button to recirculate the cabin air, otherwise you are trying to condition the outside air continuously. I still forget every once in a while, I also have a mazda mellinia that does the same thing. The same applys for heat, but the Tc heats up real quick! so not that noticable if any in heat mode.

Actually, I would do the opposite. If you are starting up the ac with the recirc button on, it is fighting hotter than ambient temps from the beginning, and has only that hot air to work with. I personally roll down the windows long enough to get all the hot air out, turn the ac on (w/o the recirc) until it gets cool, then if its still not cool enough I hit the recirc button.

a small how to on your a/c

roll down windows, sunroof to if you want, but windows will suffice, turn on the a/c no recirc, select the coldest setting hit fan speed of 3-4, when u feel nice and cool air coming from the vents, roll up all windows and sunroof, let the cold air blow, to maximize efficieny, hit recirc after 5 min of regular cooling. enjoy your cool new ride

Mine falls in the range of early VINs affected by the tsb for adding more refrigerant to the ac system.. however, mine works fine, even when visiting back home when it is 100+ degrees. So I havent really worried about it. If it isnt working, buy a cheap ac thermometer and place it in the vent. If it is blowing upwards of 50 - 60 degree air you should definitely take it in and show them. That way they cant argue too much. You should be seeing closer to 40 degree air coming out of the vents once it has been on for a bit.

Why are they replacing a service caution label?

my A/C and heat both seem to work as they should.
Only have cold in the 40's and heat in the 80's so far, but no complaints.

They changed the amount of refridgerent in the system, so they change the label to reflect to proper amount for future service

i live in Houston, and it is around mid 90s here...the A/C at full blast doesn't get cold till after 20 minutes of driving. If the temperature out is in the 80s i can live with it, but in the 90s....]

yes i had my A/C TSB looked at a year back, but now, it's doing the same thing it did last summer, brought it to the dealer and they said everything is fine, but the service manager say is is the color of the dash, and maybe what scion use for insulation under the front dash. Didn't really believe what the service manager said, so i test drove the 2006 tC myself, and find that it feels exactly the same with my 2005 tC. Was a little dissappointed, but well what can we do?

Well, what you Pay is what you Get. Not saying tC is not a good car, it come nicely equip and all, but it'll be a better choice for buyers who live in the north than in the south.

The defogger can be improve...defogging too slow.

But i am pretty happy with the heater, it's working very nicely during winter, get's warm like a minute or so.
