Default Acceleration?

Hey guys, Im saving up for 1 of the scions lol, But I was wondering how is the acceleration of the tc? Also, how do you owners like it? I dont really need a rocket, just something with a little pickup =) I currently drive a 2000 mazda b series and I am sick of how slow it is, even with mods.

It takes off quick from a stop, and does have a little speed. Although it's a heavy car. I higher speeds it seems slow to me.

Also, do insurance companies consider it a sports car?

nope, b/c.................. it's not. It's far from being 1. 0-60 in the mid 7 range can be achieved by many of the cars on the road now adays.
Acceleration is pretty decent. It depends on what other cars you have driven, driving demands, and other things.

car is 2700lbs. yes most insurance companies consider it a sports car, 2 door liftback is a sports car.

Its not fast by any means but it is "quick" meaning its fun. Get it with the trd springs and struts and rear sway and exhaust and you'll love it and if you want more we're always hear to tell you have to turbo it and blow the tires off.

Insurance companies do not consider it a sports car. I was pleasantly surprised how peppy it is being just a 4 cylinder. Just got my '07 BSP TC and I love it. I had the TRD lowering springs put on along with a couple more Scion accessories. Its a great car. Don't hesitate and buy one.

So you're saying that the tC's acceleration is inferior compared to that of a Si?

Wow.

Seconded. There is no new car with acceleration like this for the same amount of money that I'm aware of. And if there is, it's probably some sort of Korean car with a V6. Which, if you want one of those, be my guest.

NO insurance company on the face of the planet considers the tC a sports car. They have very well defined categories, they don't just look at the number of doors and style of trunk like someone up there mentioned. Case in point:
1. Four cylinders
2. Rear seat
Please don't give people false information. Insurance companies consider the tC either a "sports coupe" or "compact." "Sports car" is divided into categories like "2-seat sports car" and "2+2 sports car."

I just find it absurd that someone would say that a Si has better acceleration than a tC. It's well known that tC have a great deal of torque and that Hondas have, well...

Insurance is not that bad on this car. They don't consider it a sports car. I have a old 94 integra and still pay $70 a month for it. I already know why, its due to theft of integras.

yuup! Torque is the answer!

No, but really, the Si is faster but it's not like a 1 second difference from 0-60. So under normal conditions, both cars will do fine and dandy.

It's actually a pretty quick car, especially if you know how to shift right and rev match. It's got a lot of low-end punch, which is great for around town driving. I used to have a GSR Integra and I would really have to rev it a lot to take advantage of the car's power band. The tC is different in the respect that you have most of your power available in lower rpms due to peak 163 ft/lb torque kicking in at 4000rpms. Hope that helps.
