What I do percieve as problems:

A loud whistling sound anywhere from 60+ mph occasionally (seem to depend on the wind) coming through the driver's side dash/winshield/visor in front of me. Can't pinpoint an exact location which is frustrating.

Lots of sunroof wind noisewhen the cover is open, but from what I can tell, it's not a problem per se, but just something to deal with.

Moving air vents when they are on full blast

driver's side fabric is coming off the seat on the rear, where the lever to pull the seat forward is.

Overall, I'm loving it. Not so much the gas mileage (308 miles on 13.5 gallons = 22mpg) 50/50 mixed, so I guess that's the price to pay for the nice engine.
curious if anyone else has experience any problems/issues like that with the seat fabric....?

Isn't New Orleans BELOW sea level?? I would assume that most structures there are built on a higher platform because of the flooding potential. I assuming that's why your tC is getting scratched everytime you enter a parking lot.

I have not had any problems other than the popping moonroof issue, but that will be taken care of when my first oil change comes around.

Now, I do a quick dust every morning and it looks spotless for about two weeks (unless it rains or something)!
Yeah, out here on the east coast we get rain all the time. I don't think the duster would do me much good. You Californians are spoiled.

I do want to try out the Mr. Clean thing, though. Water spots are a bigger concern for me than dust.
Nooo! For the love of god stay away from that Mr. Clean thing. I bought one and it's a POS! It's good for washing the car I have to admit, since the soap is right there and the pressure is pretty good, but as far as the water spots...doesn't help AT ALL! I'd bet it makes it even worse. I did it just like the manual says and I got a LOT of water spots. You really need to dry the car by hand if you use that thing. Maybe I should start a new topic for this. Anyways, just be ware of that bald-headed homo. j/k

Mr. Clean worked well for me. Just be generous with the de-ionized water.

I dono why but it's not working for me. I tried it twice and I had water spots on the car. Do you guys hand dry it after u're done washing? I do exactly what the manual says: Rinse, soap, rinse then De-ionized. And I'm pretty generous with that stuff too, spend a good 10 minutes just on that step. heh :?

Isn't the whole selling point of the Mr. Clean AUTODRY that you don't have to dry your car? Why would you pay $20-30 for it otherwise?

Did you use the special soap solution that came with the Mr. Clean Kit? Because it doesn't work without that soap. I should know because my dad put dishwashing liquid (that is so asian ghetto) into the Mr. Clean unit and when I washed my car, I got water spots all over after using the de-ionized water.

LOL that's kindof funny but yeah I did use the Mr. Clean Soap. I'm thinking maybe it has to do with the fact that it was kindof sunny when I was doing it. I guess I need to try to do it when the sun's down...but then i can't see what I'm washing!

You can't let the soap dry when you use it but if it still doesn't work, take it back and exchange for another Mr.Clean kit. It may be a defective one.

Mine works.

Using dishwashing detergent is not advised for cleaning a car. The chemicals that break down grease and oils also strips any wax you have on your car.

New Orleans (and most of Louisiana) has wicked curbs and inclines. Worse than anywhere else I've been, and I've travelled a lot. I don't think there's any reason for it, it's just the way they do it. It's a even problem when I drive the minivan, and I have to be super careful in the Miata.

This is, of course, not a defect, but quite an expensive repair compared to other cars, should you have to do it.

Thanks for your time and opinions!
I'm glad I live in Florida. Your insurance company has to fix your windshield free of charge with no penalties to your policy. It doesn't matter if you broke it yourself.

Now that I think of it, a friend of mine locked his keys in his car, so he broke the windshield, grabbed the keys, went inside and called his insurance company. Someone came the same day and fixed it in his driveway. =)

Hey haihengh,
I would recommend you try out a California Duster (carried at autozone, pepboys, etc). The C.D. was the best $20 I have spent on my car! Before I got it, my car would be covered with dust and look dirty about two days after I washed it (I have a BCP which is a really dark color). The only thing to be aware of is that you should air it out for 48 hours on newspapers before you first use it (as mentioned in the instructions). Hope this helps. -Jayme

hey, geminitwin, i got the C.D. at pepboys yesterday. i bought the cheap $10 one since I don't think i don't own a large SUV/van. just wondering, how to "air it out for 48 hours on newspapers"? just put it on top of a newspaper and let it sit in my house for 2 days?

I've had mine for just over a month, 1300 miles.

Only complaints:

1. Needs a sixth gear. The transmission is great right up to 65MPH. At 80, it runs 3600 RPM. A nice overdrive 6th would be great.
2. Wind noise from the sunroof. Not a huge deal.

That's it. Great car. I'm getting 25-27MPG doing short (10-15m) trips to work daily. The only tC in the area so I turn a lot of heads. And it seems that every kid wants to race me on the interstate. They always seem to give a thumbs up. That's still considered good, right?

Hi haihengh,
Yep, that's what you do. I put down a towel and then the newspapers and then the CA duster because the wax was going through the papers. I rotated the duster once I think during the 2 or so days I left it sitting out. Worked perfectly the first time I used it with no wax droppings on my car :-). Hope it works out for you too! -Jayme

I know, that's why I was very ____ed at the situation. I bought an extra bottle of the Mr.Clean soap just in case I ran out but nonethless he didn't see it.

I got the MR Clean kit and it works awesome. Would never go back to hand drying. Works like a charm on my black 4 runner and dark green camery. Since i just got the tc last night haven't had a chance to use it on the car but I expect the same results. Try changing the filter for the ionized water. The one that you get with the kit is only good for about 3 washes. Make sure you wash your car later in the day or park it in the shade to dry otherwise you'll get spots. Also don't be cheap on the ionized water. Works like a champ for me !
