Default Air Vent

Does this happen to anyone else. On the furtherst left air vent on the dashboard; whenever i have my ac up real high the vent moves on it's own. It will move all the way to the right ( going towards the steering wheel ). Moves all by itself, anyone else notice this?

It's just the way the tubing to the vents is laid out. It's angled coming into the vent, so the fins tend to turn with the force of the air.

Yes, I've had this problem too. I've even had two dealers try and fix it without a solution. Anyone successfully fixed it yet? My warranty will be out soon and I want this fixed.

When I originally worked for toyota back when the tC was first launched the air vent problem was FAR worse . All of them if the vehicles sat in the sun for prolonged periods of time all the vents would "close themselves" if the ac was put on high . The center vents were the worse of them all , they woudl completely close all togather till the vents got cooled by the ac and then they would stay open . From what I have seen with the 05's they have improved it and made the vents with more resistance to them so they dont move as easily as they did before . What model year is it you have ? If its one of the first few then yeah you probably got a batch of the vents that was loose . Mine the vents are fine and they dont move at all . Just take it to you Scion dealer and they SHOULD replace it under warrenty .

This just started happening to me as well... It's not cool... I guess I should have the dealer look at mine too.

How can your warranty possibly run out soon? The oldest the car could be is less than 1 yr... and if I'm not mistaken, the bumper to bumper is much longer than that.

I have this problem also... A couple times all the vents completely closed like you mentioned in your post. Not to mention the a/c takes forever to start blowing cold air. But what are they going to replace under warranty? The whole vent?

I've got 23K on it and add about 3K a month. I figure I've got about 4 months, give or take a month, before my b2b warranty expires. The air vent is only one of the problems.

I dont know i am in the situation with my dealer right now. He said he is going to order the vent and start from there. He said not to worry it's all under warranty. So we'll see.

all of my vent are difficult to direct by either wheel. i think they may have just tightened everything up. also, inside the vent at the left there are two angled flaps that redirect the air flow from coming directly out. it's an odd design and as a result, i can't actually get any vent to hit me directly.

what my dad did to his hyundia dimmer **** that kept switching down when he hit a bump, effectly dimming all the instruments with each bump. he took some stiff wax, some stuff that can handle a temperature rise (he's a dentist, so i guess he knows his wax) and that holds the **** for over 2 years now. maybe we could take a wax and shove it in there, on the slider ****, that should help it stay more put
