In a matter of minutes im going to go pick up an automatic blac tC, and since ive never owned a black car, i was just wondering if you guys had any tips on keeping a black car clean! Such as is there any specific wax i should use, and how often should i wax it?

I've only owned one black vehicle. a 99 s-10. I'll never own another black car or truck ever again.

But if that's what you want to do, o.k.

Keep it in a garage
Park as far away from other cars as possible
wash it at least twice a day
wax it weekly
shoot any bird who gets within 1 mile of your car
and make sure your A/C shoots out at least 30 below temperatures.

Hope this helps.

Don't over do it. Wash it once or twice a month (as needed), wax it every 3 or 4 months,, use the good stuff. I like Zaino, but it's pricey. I have a black Solara, it's a _____ to keep clean, but it looks great when it's cleaned up (for the 30 seconds before the layer of dust settles on it - AZ sucks).

Never drive it, ever. Dark cars are a _____ to keep looking good. Also, you can see every single scratch some soccer mom puts on your car. They look best in the 15 minutes after you wash and wax them, because from there it's all downhill. Maybe the dark car works better down South, because if any sort of moisture gets on the car, forget it.

Sadly, the only colors ont he tC that aren't dark are appliance white, girly blue, or generic silver. I'd probably go with the girly blue myself, just because it's sadly the most exciting color.

I got a black box, and wouldn't trade it for any other color.

I did the whole Zaino thing: dawn wash, claybar, polish all day. Then every day or every other day, I wipe down all the paint with a microfiber cloth... it takes maybe one or two minutes. Wash every sunday with Zaino car wash, and add a layer of Zaino polish every two weeks or once a month.

Even if the box is a little dirty, the black color SHINES at night, especially under some neons or florescent (sp?) lighting.

When I park in front of the club, it looks hella VIP.. like puff daddys in the club or some ____

Let me get this straight first... everyone talks about Zaino like its god sent and indeed it works miracles but Zaino is only a POLISH. It is suggested that people should use P21S WAX or any other high quality wax to finish up after polishing with Zaino. Polish makes it shiny, wax protects the shine[/u]

From Zainos Website:

"Unlike most paint protection systems, Z-2™ Show Car Polish can be layered for improved results. With each coat, your car's paint will look wetter and deeper. If you have a dark colored car, multiple coats of Z-2™ Show Car Polish will also help eliminate swirl marks.

Z-2™ Show Car Polish will give your car's paint finish total environmental protection and a show car shine. It is the only protection your car's paint will ever need. Z-2™ Show Car Polish offers more protection than any wax in the industry. Nothing sticks to Z-2™ Show Car Polish. It will outperform, out protect, outshine and outlast anything on the market today. Guaranteed!"

It's not a conventional "polish", but it can't be called a wax, simply because it's not.

Zaino is called "polish" because it doesn't use a natural carnauba wax product in it. It's all synthetic. They can call it whatever they want. It still works like a "wax", and it works great.

This may be a really dumb question but is there a wax or polish that repels dust and stuff. I just washed my BCP yesterday morning and today it is completely dusty and the hood is all spotted! GRRRR!

Anyway, I bought Meguire's gold class wax but haven't used it yet on my tC. I only picked her up this past Friday but if anyone else has tips on keeping it clean, I'd appreciate it. This is my first darker colored car.

Thanks!
