Default any way to reduce shifter notchiness?

so, i love my tC, but after driving my brother in laws jaguar x type, i'm totally jealous of his shifter. it was so smooth to shift and not notchy like ours are. i mean, at first i thought the notchiness was cool because it kinda helped you out with getting it into gear...but now, it's just kinda of annoying. everyone who's driven my car has noticed it as the first thing they didn't like..followed by how short 1st gear is.

i had a 95 ford aspire, in crappy shape but driveable, and that shifter shifted like it was in warm butter.

would a short shifter help or is this something i'll just have to live with?

yea the notchiness is annoying for me too...feels like i am killing the car or forcing it in gear sometimes, espeically 1st to 2nd, and 2nd to 3rd....3rd to 4th is smoothiest

dont think it could be fixed easily. A short shift kidt would make the throw short but a little harder. Only thing that might help is tearing it apart and sanding it down.

You compared a Tc to a X type I havent noticed it yet but maybe try the short-shift kit.

Maybe I'm lucky, but my tranny isn't notchy at all. I race the thing and everything feels smooth to me. It feels smoother than my 02 Civic turbo and Evo 8 did.

A B&M short throw is in the works for me though. Love the stock feel, just need the added performance.

I always felt the tC stick was incredibly smooth. I drove one with the TMW short shifter installed and that felt far more notchy.

toyota makes their tranny's "notchy" to keep you from tearing up the tranny from grinding gears all the time, you know with toyota you feel that you're in gear when you get in, so its great.
