Default scion tC trunk malfunction

ok, i live in new york so its pretty cold around here at this time, and i was wondering if anybody is having hte same problem int eh cold as i am. when the temperature outside is like freezing, my trunk does not close... i mean the trunk does not lock itself so when i close it, i can easily lift it back up with out pressing on the trunk button... does anybody know hwo to fix this? because when i drive in teh cold the trunk door just sometimes pops up and down and the light inside my car turns on and shuts off... its pretty retarded... anybody know how to fix it? i tried opening the little panel at hte trunk door and i have to push the lever back up so it locks. but once I close it and open it again the lever doesn not go back up and i have to push it back up manually...

It may be a general problem with tCs.

I've actually had my cabin light come on while driving. I freaked out that it might be an electrical problem, especially when it started to flick on and off--but I pulled over and discovered my trunk wasn't completely shut.

I would take it to the dealership and get it fixed.

Sometimes in the mornings when its really cold, the rear hatch doesn't Open Up as quick as it does during 'normal warm' weather. Is this also a problem, should i bother bringing it in

It's just cold. Happens in my celica. Shouldn't happen as frequently to your new cars though, unless it was wet then it froze.

I used to oil the latch w/ some lubricant to fix this when it occured on an older car when i lived in ohio. Couldnt hurt to try it...

If you crawl into the back of your car and remove the panel over the latch mechanism there's a switch or lever you can hit to lock the hatch. I just read about this recently so haven't tried it but several people said it worked. I've had the exact same problem you have but haven't gotten around to having the dealer look at it.

yea popping hte back and fixing the hatch, you can manually push the lever back up and close the trunk and it'll lock, however this is only a temporary fix, once you open the trunk again, the trunk will not lock again...

Same problem. Went to dealer for warranty service on it. First time with lubricant and problem occured again. Finally got the latch delivered and installed early February with no problems since.

Suggestion: Take it to dealer. It is under warranty.

Haven't had that problem thank goodness. It doesnt really get to cold here. But it still get's cold. Yes i have noticed when it's cold outside the hatch does open slower then normal. I dont think it's something that can be fixed it's just cold outside i mean when your cold dont you move slower too? HAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
