Default Anyone else a little scared of the knee airbag?

I'm a big guy(6'1") so my knees are damn near touching where that airbag is. And I'm afraid that if it goes off it'll bust my knees. Anybody else paranoid about this? Or has anybody had them go off before?

It's actually quite comfortable... you know there are the seat height and angle adjustments on the side right? I have mine all the way down, but the front of the seat is angled up. I'm pretty sure I have another notch or two going backwards too.

im 6'1 and a half, and iv totaled my tc... the air bags kick ___, thats all there is to it. They dont have any kind of crushing motion, they just provide a cushion before you're knees hit anything. You almost dont feel them. Im glad they were there tho-- no need to fear bro their there for a reason

just make sure that when you crash youre not doing the splits. Unless you dont want any kids, then go for it.

Anything coming at you that fast is going to be scary, even a teddy bear. But I'd much rather hit that than hard dash plastic.

I dont think that some people realize that you can press that height adjustment lever repeatedly to move the seat lower and lower. It almost seems like you just push it down or pull it up once and that is it, which doesnt move the seat very far. If you keep "pumping it" (heh heh.. I said....) it will adjust further and further.

and be careful of a dangling key chain with extra keys. the bag may send them flying.

I have my seat set the same way, all the way down, front angled up, and slid all the way back. Im 6'2" and i find the tC to be very comfterble.

it seems like a bunch of people who have no idea are talking about the airbag. how many of you have seen it in action? it doesnt project your keys or anything like that. It doesnt come out of the "dash" more than about 3 inches. Its a flat rectangle. it doesnt project at you the same way the top airbags deploy. It busts all your swiches out tho.. but thats from cracking the dash its self. and yes the seats are quite comfy

no one reads the manual anymore. please refer to page 49:

"Do not attach any heavy, sharp or hard objects or accessories to the ignition key. The object may restrict the SRS knee airbag inflation or be thrust into the driver's seat area by the force of the deploying airbag, thus causing a danger." Additionally, there is a picture of "hanging keys" from the ignition key and the universal symbol for a no-no, a slashed circle.

Now granted, the odds may be slim of such an occurrence, but I felt compelled to warn in this topic just as Scion did when you bought your car....

(I don't generally post to see myself type btw...k, sometimes i do but mostly i don't )

If my parents would have invested into one of these fun cars instead of the minivan, I'm sure my father would have appreciated having those knee airbags. (he shattered his knee cap in a recent car accident.)
